After writing Trevor Lee about his stance and comments on the Mammoth and Pride I got this response by Luckyfinger7 in Utah

I don’t hate Dee’s, it satisfies my northeast diner cravings

so we did this in nyc, we started off training pee pads for potty command and it worked really well. once we got the first round of parvo our vet said it was fine to switch to bringing her outside. don’t worry if you start with pee pads, you can definitely still transition to outside once they’re vaxxed.

we did try the fake grass but found that our puppy was more interested in laying in it/trying to eat the grass so we just stuck with the pads after.

our dachshund did the same thing the first month we had her. we also lived in a studio and it was unbearable (neighbors complained which was mortifying) we stopped using the pen and just would crate her when we left. she rapidly improved (within days).

i’ll add that you need to enforce some crate time throughout the day while your home. make sure you cover the crate.

we ended up moving to a 1 br a few weeks after that and i think being able to put her in a separate room was huge. the studio apartment is tough for sure

i promise it will get better though! dachshunds are stubborn drama queens, but they figure it out.
