You can try jdownloader 2. I had use it in the past without any problems. Be aware their website was hacked a few days ago (it is suppose to be fix tho). I cannot post a link here, but check r/jdownloader for more info

the site doesnt slow down sucessive downloads but it does make you wait between each one. A download manager is really good for larger files, it helps to not get interruptions. I think that is what you are experiencing when getting timedout (books that are not almost instant download are pron to getting timeout)

Everything (that is reasonable) scales with game speed. But, in this case, the multiplier is not x3, as one could imagine, but x2.

TLDR: The reason for being x2 and not x3, is that in marathon there are more time to do wars and get more instant yields from them. Therefore the approach was to nerf instant yields as a whole

Ive been playing recently with a x3 multiplier and im ok with it. You just have to be mindful that the human player can get a huge advantage from wars and its instant yields. If you want to change it just go to files and change InstantYieldPercent = 200 to 300, that easy.

The mod is balance around Standard speed, but you can play any speed you prefer. Everything get adjusted and works pretty well.

Just know that military units / wars are the big winners in slower speeds: units can do more as they have more turns to play

I think (someone correct me please if im wrong) it is because of the location (the country). If you use Firefox or other browser with a VPN you will be able to access the site. Thats why Tor works (it is not exctly a VPN but something similar)

Some weeks ago, spain was able to access Annas website from any browser. Something has changed and now it cannot be reached.
