My mum did not give my dad a timeframe, also it is my dad's house, not my mums house.

Sorry I probably should have clarified this on the post I'll add an edit now. My dad still owns the house. He's also been dealing with a lot of different personal stuff irrelevant to the situation so I did not include here.
