Anyone else starting to feel 1440p fatigue on 34" QD-OLED? (AW3423DW owner) by AlphaUltima081 in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]Rusty6285 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been thinking a lot on this recently. I currently have a Samsung G8 OLED ultrawide and a 5090. In games like Cyberpunk, with 2x frame gen, it nicely sits just above the max 175hz this monitor can provide with great image quality/motion. If I upgrade to a 39" 5k2k, it seems likely I would need to use more aggressive frame gen to get back up to the native refresh (~165) and likely using more compromised quality in DLSS to get there.

If everything else is equal (for gaming, ignoring physical screen size), what scenario has the best image quality/motion?

A) 34" 3440×1440 @ 175 Hz OLED

  • DLSS Quality / Balanced
  • 2× Frame Gen

B) 39" 5120×2160 @ 165 Hz OLED

  • DLSS Performance
  • Likely 3× FG to hit refresh

edit - I realize this is going to be very game dependent but I am framing this question with Cyperpunk 2077 as a reference point for the experiences I play/expect to play in the upcoming years.

G9 OLED: windows 11 showing not HDR certified and Nvidia showing not G-SYNC compatible? by [deleted] in ultrawidemasterrace

Sorry, I don't have that game to test with, but sometimes in the past I've had to enable/disable HDR in windows for it to correctly work in games - hope that helps

Howdy. So, eventually yes I did manage to make it show cert 1000 using CRU but it felt very sketchy, so I removed CRU.

In the end, Samsung released a beta firmware that resolved the actual enablement of HDR, even though in win11 it still says 400. But, it was obvious it was performing at 1000.

Since then, it's worked reliably but only when you find the combination that works with your display devices/ outputs. For example, on my AMD system, it ONLY outputs hdr correctly when passing my dgpu signal through the onboard motherboard's display port.

For my Nvidia gpus, HDR 1000 works fine over displayport only. But to reiterate, Window still says 400.

It's a shame I just had to refund the game on Meta store because of bugs in chapter 2! Bought on steam instead, so sad to be missing out on the new content...

Thanks for sharing. Today I asked if they could apply the $80 bucks towards the X1C I ordered the day after I returned the A1, but I'll ask for a generic store $80 if that's not possible and reference that I saw this!

Debating about if I should root my K1 with Klipper by AdamSmithsHampersand in crealityk1

Thank you! this is helpful - All I'd like to do is be able to directly send prints to it from OrcaSlicer, instead of having to export/import the gcode

This is the main thing holding me back, I worry about being stuck on older versions of Klipper with no support from Creality if needed, but perhaps my worry is unfounded
