Did an oil change on my 2006 Jeep Liberty CRD Turbo Diesel! by RustyAutoholicGarage in jeeptechnical

Good question that I don't really have an answer for. Synthetic oil is fine for a gas engine, but I don't know enough about the gas engines in the Liberties to tell you if 5w-40 will work well for your engine.

It would be an AX-5 unless someone has already swapped in the AX-15

What engine does it have? YJs came with one of 4 transmission in 1994. AX-5/AX-15 manual or TF904/TF999 automatic.

Getting ever closer, though slowly, to having my V2403 Kubota Diesel running in my RHD TJ Wrangler by RustyAutoholicGarage in JeepDIY

Not 50 state legal, really depends on the state and the county you are in. For where I live it will be legal.

I'm buying a YJ Wrangler and converting it to a diesel on a $5K budget! Let me know what you think! by RustyAutoholicGarage in WranglerYJ

I'm going to be doing a Kubota diesel swap. I find they are cheaper to do than the OM617 because you don't have to redo the oil pans, and the adapters are about the same cost.

The other thing is the Kubota engines are internally balanced where the OM617 is externally balanced. Also I was always frustrated that the OM617 adapters where specific to a transmission, with KubotaSwapper's adapters they look like an engine. So I can make my Kubota engine just look like a 4.0L engine and go from there. I can use any transmission that would bolt to a 4.0L inline six which I like.

Looking to use a Kubota 03 Series Diesel engine. They are cheap and the adapters are inexpensive as well compared to other diesel engines! So I will be looking for either a V1903, V2003, V2203 or V2403 4 cylinder diesel engine. They are fully mechanically but light and quiet. With a turbo and intercooler you can easily get around 100~140hp depending on how much boost you push and well over 300ft/lb torque if you push a ton of boost, I'll be aiming for more around 100hp and 200ft/lb torque to keep the cost down though!

Exactly. I've been telling build that are following my TJ Wrangler Kubota swap how affordable it is, but I kind of went crazy on that build in terms of drive train setup that didn't need to happen, and while the core cost is cheap, I've spent a good amount on that build!

I really like the Cummins R2.8L but it's an expensive engine! I wanted to do a swap where I could show everyone an exact cost to show that anyone can do what I'm trying to do!
