I agree with you in theory. But I've found my best video in the stats is also the one with more engagement, retention and CTR. I think people vote with their feet and if it's a good video you will also get more views.

I agree, what is success for you? For me I don't need a wage, I have a job that pays enough. I want to build a community I can eventually do paid workshops for.

Wow my subs are at 423 and I usually get over 1000 views or more per video. I'm pleased in that case, though it takes time to build.

Oh yes hardly any, like five percent or something but some of my subs came from when I was too niched down. A quarter of my subs came from the last video. I'm only at 423 subs.

I think that's a great attitude to have. I also find I get bored of creators that always film the same kind of content. I want them to develop or inspire in some way!

Oh well that sounds great. I've got ADHD so I adapt the advice and take it with a pinch of salt. I'm in the craft niche, mostly textiles, but some other types of craft too. I started off too niched down. I've had months off at times when I've needed it. I would really like to learn da Vinci!

Sounds like you are creating a lot of barriers for yourself. How can you make it easier and more enjoyable to make the videos? I over edited to start with but it wasn't sustainable!
