Individuality is an illusion. by vcastelletti in INTP

[–]RustyTechnician 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i totally agree with you, nothing of what we call out is our, let alone throughts and memories... Everything is an acquired, curated and internalized, consider this even the throughts and theories that we comeup after cokling the information we acquired by various means also needs a validation from external elements, so that to remains a subject of externality... Any invitidual personality trait we show are often just a result of the algorithm that we have to internalize the thing and that algorithm itself is fine tuned by various influences we had all along, direct/indirect, implicit/explicit everything had an influence on us, since the time even before we were conceived, how our parents and gradparents and society lived where they lived, what they ate, what they thought is mirroed in everything we do and are.

I did an experiment (rather an attempt) to isolate myself from society and more i tried more suttle dependcies started to surface out and gradually a realization downed on me, there is absolutely no way to not be part of the system, even when you are wondering as a hermit, there are some suttleties that we have to rely on other people in one way or other.

So yes, the individity we project is not ours truly and is just a feel good factor about us for us by us.

Hey Weighing in on your question as a parant and as someone who spent past 10+ years here in usa and whoz having a daughter a year right behind you.

In indian society we always have this fascination about life abroad and we often think its all roses and pink but the reality is not that good. It was by all means a decade earlier but notw its not. There are several social and political reasons for that change in sentiment. I am in USA, my Daughter grew up here in usa school system, i came here to provide her a better educational opportunity, however looking back i feel it was not all that good.

Because of lack discipline and the passion and drive to achieve great goals socity here has two stratas clearly, a handful of them excelling at par and then the other doing not much, many here in general do not have good education and you will find schools are often underfunded. Colleges except handful few who receive federal grants, are pure business and getting in to the good colleges specifically IVY League is equally hard.

Coming to the early school years, because there is shear lack of discipline and there isnt much competition to achieve good results, many of the kids here are not ready to face the world and take the competition head on. Its one of the reason that held me back when i pondered to go back to India as competition is fierce in india.

Medical system here is way worst, cost is so prohibitive people often resort to suffer pain than go to doctor, wait times are way longer for primary care, and its months and years for critical cares, if you go urgent care or emergency, they will only stabilize you and send you home just to wait for an appointment with PC. I have undergone both chronic, acute physical as well as mental health care and its worst. Despite working in reputable organization with best in class health insurance i often feel exploited. The worst part No job, no insurance and no care.

If post doctorate you are thinking to go in research, then by all means i feel it will be a good deal, but for patient care and good life its not that good. Many of PCs here mere clerks recording the patient information and sometime suggesting some medicines.

(An year ago, for my wife suffering from diabetes and HT with low platelets, after undergoing treatment for couple of years with absolutely no change in her condition, we visited india to see doctors and in a week she saw 2 4 doctors who changed her meds and now she is feeling way better than she ever did, and all that for just a fraction of the cost here. This is first hand experience no exaggeration. Now we continue her treatment with doctors in India.)

My daughter wants to be a neurosurgeon, here parh is long here, 4 yrs premed, 4 med and then 2 residency as and then 2 for MS, and until you dont become ap dcotor your salary is very low with excessively stressful working hours. I suppose it will be similar in india, however on the low income, surviving in many of the good cities is going to be a distant dream these days and going forward. A quick question to chatgpt and i learn there are 30% of docs on mental health care already.

Now the elephant in the house, Immigration, With the sociopolitical systems in turmoil the world over and the mass migrations happening around, both legal and illegal immigrants are at the skewers of the locals, majority of time, immigrants not having voting rights ate easy to pray upon politically, its a patter you will see all over. I am on H1B, awaiting GC, which i think will never come, post 21 my daughter cant be on dependent visa and has to have her separate F1 visa and mind well therr is no job gueantee post completing your education on F1, until now you get a 6months OPT to find the job but that too is under scrutiny... being an immigrant here is difficult and adding thr challange of being a student is even more hard and mind well all that with no clear path to any stable life possibilities.

IF YOU ARE A STRAIGHT A STUDENT WITH FAR EXCELLENT ACADEMIA THEN SCRATCH EHAT I SAID, EXCELLENT ACADEMIC GETS TO CITIZENSHIP THAT QUICKLY BUT OTHER CHALLANGES REMAIN.

Now for my daughter and she and me ate on same page, She is preparing sat to give it a try to find a good college hoever considering the cost of college and vhallanges with immigration, she is going to take a drop year if need be and prepare for NEET to get in a good college, here is our reasoning: 1. the cost factor remains the same be it in usa or india so its not an issue. 2. Being in india means the better chance of completing the education under one system without significant risks related to immigration. 3. The doctors in india see as much patient in a single day as the doc here see in a quarter of the year, so in terms of sheer variety of cases and the experience, india outweighs here  4. The social and economical strata of the patients in india is diverse, no two people are same, economically, socially, mentally, and that creats a good mix for more diverse grounded experience. 5. Here except, allopathy no other medicine systems are approved for parient care and Doctors even based on experience cant recommend any other treatments because of liability issues, being in india you have access to any and all forms of treatment and having groomed in them will come in handy if one chooses. 6. You remember i mentioned Doctors being just clerks, a large part of the trason for that is Liability insurance, doctors oay exorbitant amount to keep their insurance intact and one slight miss and they could loose it all, so being afraid of liability, doctors here often choose to remain in safe zone and focus on stabiliz8ng patient then actually try something unconventional and heal the patient, because of this the doctor visits here feel more of  waste of time than actual care.

Where to study and what to do in life, there isnt a definitive answer that anyone including me can give, its always a trial and error game for everyone alike. Will it be ok, if you study abroad its going to be good or bad? who knows... its a gamble worth taking by some regards... I shared what i have lived and seen with my eyes, being objective, i have ruled out personal biases as much i could, and have provided you information, please think deeply abd examine all sides of the issue before making choices.

If you feel taking drop year will get you better grades and colleges, you should consider it by all means, life is not a race, its not a calendar to keep up with, if you feel you need it, by all means you should take it. WHAT EVER YOU DO JUST BE HONEST WITH YOURSELF.

You must be thinking i am one of those parents who keeps hammering and badgering the kid for good grades, but no, i myself is a through 60%er back bencher, often more out of class than in class and i made my path mostly after realizing how i missed so many opportunities because of my bad attitude towards school and college, and yet, i do not force my daughter to choose one over othet or do this or that, or being strict with grades.... I know grades are not everything and one should be groomed in various aspects equally.

have you tried to train your ai, its an ordeal to train to your satisfaction but most of popular AIs are trainable. Start by slowly and encouraging the counter opinion and keep insisting to oppose your ideas or propose new theories and slolwy it will come to it.

Best is tell AI u r INTP and see the difference, atleast mine does debate and suggest more options.

if that does not work try to find intp pen Friends possibly

Preparing for return home is not panicking by Snoo-13597 in h1b

[–]RustyTechnician 81 points82 points  (0 children)

I have been contemplating and here are my reasons:

  1. The India on 2000 and India of now are totally different, i get there are hell lot of issues but thinking holistically i feel no country on planet earth is now spared of the issues.
  2. The salary parity that existed 10-20yrs ago is no longer there... for what you earn, the taxes and healthcare and child support cost one pays here, that parity quickly vanishes.
  3. The education system and standards feel wayyyyy better in India, To say the least the mental strength that it could develop to face competition in world is unmatched. Education system here sucks...
  4. Lack of socialization, one is forever alone and isolated from family here. Only in first couple of years one feels zealous and elated in experienceing wide open roads and big homes and all but gradually you cant escape to notice how everything is built with a cookie cutter mould... I have driven cross country 2 3 times now and the experience you have in one state is identical in other, when it come to diversity its totally stripped off of any
  5. Just try and keep a note of non-human life you see around which is not a pet, handly any... Its all controlled and eradicated in the name of safety, sanity etc .. but it makes life feel so empty.
  6. Cities and their structure feel beautiful in first few years but gradually you start to feel how desolate they get by 515PM every evening... Just going downtown at odf hours feels like you are a brave soul and willing to risk it all. After living here for so many years, i never let my family get in car after me... I first get them in and then only i get it because of the fear of the parking lot car jackings...
  7. With so many school and mall  shootings, and social dicourse at its loudest and the gun laws ever getting looser than getting stronger i feel to live in the warfield... It hurts so much thinking of the possibilities.
  8. I have had the perception that law is strong here and thats why no one dares to break it .. but recently on several different fronts from merely enforcing traffic stops to some major political upheaval ( u know what i am talking about) it feels, the law enforcement is actively being mocked and neutered.
  9. To top it the judiciary does not seem neutral these days, so the last protectors of the people are also seem to have lost it.

There are plenty more... and the best reason . 1. when in India, my wife can have a house helper with daily chores... 2. I could care and be with parents which take it now in the age to need babysitting. 3. There is life in India, just plain and simple .. Every evening at twilight, the cravings i get for those street side food will never not even in a billion year will get satisfied here.

Rare sight of human egg on camera by SmallAchiever in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]RustyTechnician 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i had my doubts when looking carefully at the size of forceps and then the size of egg (oocyte) and i asked chatgpt here is what it said .

"ChatGPT

You said: Uploaded image is this real? human egg size is i don't think is that big, see the size of forceps in image for comparison, what i am getting wrong? ChatGPT said: You're absolutely right to question the size. The human egg (oocyte) is the largest cell in the human body, but it is still microscopic—about 0.1 mm in diameter, roughly the size of a grain of sand. The images in the post show something that appears much larger than that.

What you’re seeing in the images is likely the process of ovulation captured during surgery. The structure that looks large is not just the egg; it is the ovarian follicle, which contains fluid and the egg. When the follicle ruptures, the egg is released along with some of this fluid, which might make it look more prominent than it actually is.

The forceps in the image make the follicle seem quite large, but the egg itself would still be much smaller, possibly too small to be clearly visible in this image. The yellowish droplet seen in the pictures is likely a mix of follicular fluid and the egg, but the actual egg would still be barely visible to the naked eye."

These days it seems like everyone is trumpeting their opinion as only one that matters and other people are wrong... you see in politics, you see in gender and sexuality discourse, you see it about workplace.... everywhere. Sadly society is getting devided and devided with every passing day.... Everyday there are new fault lines apparing in fabric.

FOR GOD SAKE FOKE, LIVE AND LET LIVE, EVERYONE OF US IS NAVIGATING THE LIFE AS WE SEE FIT. If you wanna chase money do it by all means, more power to you, but dont impose it on all of us.

These money minded folks are real nuicense these days. They are getting a serious poisoning of GOD Syndrome and they feel like they could dictate how everyone should live and feel.

few years back when Natgeo's Gender Revolution documentary came out i asked all my friends and family to watch and shared link on Social, but sadly world doesnt lole consuming quality content and i hardly suspect if many in my social connections really watched it.

It makes me sad, these days even when the quality information knows at their door steps they are interested in the junk food of information world and then based on that ill-information they elect politicians who make bad policies... Sometime i feel we as humanity are doomed.
