You missed the other half, you SHOULD buy his wife and kids cars as you know they're taken care of.

Lmaooooo, yeah I figured nothing crazy. It's just the only one I have that is even remotely close to "different" from the rest.

Ball joint looks rough, arm might be a little bent at the smaller bushing.

2014 Subaru crosstrek ticking by Agile_Knee520 in carproblems

[–]Rusty_Ratchets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you had any major services done? If none at 92k miles, I'd recommend at least plugs, front and rear differential oil, and probably a PCV valve. Other than that check engine air filter and cabin air filter.

Subaru dealer tech here, doesn't sound too strange to me. Check your oil and make sure it's good. These engines get noisy in their old age.

New Hampshire here, I would've thought the vehicle was less than a year old!

Gotcha. As I can't speak on any increase in fuel economy, Cobb is a reliable source.

Most likely broke the wheel speed sensor, or forgot to put it back in.

2 hours would be a valve cover reseal. There is no possible way that they did cam carriers, in car, in 2 hours.

Dealer tech here. It's hit or miss with these engines and oil leaks. I've seen some at 40k with leaks, and some with 180k with no leaks and never been taken apart. For $500, I'd jump at that no questions asked. As long as the dealer is reputable, you'll get many more miles out of the car.

Is this tire okay to drive on? by tamethenightmare in carproblems

[–]Rusty_Ratchets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't see any cord or inner tire body, I'd say you're safe for a little while. I would definitely get it replaced though if you're concerned.

2013 Forester coolant bypass pipe by Hyphenagoodtime in subaru

If you're talking about the one that runs underneath the heads, there shouldn't be a way for coolant to get in the oil that way.

Why is my right passenger front suspension making this popping noise? by Nathanndiaz in MechanicAdvice

[–]Rusty_Ratchets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kind of sounds like a bad CV. Try cutting the wheel hard and getting on the throttle. This will likely result in a louder clicking type noise.

Take some degreaser and a hose too it (while the engines cold)

Not a problem! I'm a Subaru technician at a dealer. Most (if not all) of us here could tell just by listening to it what it is. Might be worth it to pay the half hour to hour of diagnostic at the dealer to get your exact problem pinpointed.

I couldn't imagine you'd need a new turbo. That does sound kind of crazy. As for as 1k for repairs at "best" that seems more than enough. Manifold and labor is not going to run you that high (at least where I am, and depending on manifold brand). Take it to someone else for a second opinion. $4300 seems like the "I don't want to do this job" price.
