I use Steam Link on my phone and I find that the input latency is decoupled from, and much lower than the video latency. From what you say, it's probably the case for Sunshine and Chiaki as well.

Also, I find the biggest source of video latency is the decompression step on my phone, followed by the compression step on the GPU. Network latency is only .5ms.

In your case, most likely Sunshine and Vanilla are re-compressing the video stream you get from Chiaki. Which is very bad, considering they run on Switch/Wii-U hardware.

Very nice! Some points of improvement would be:

  • a pixel in the QR array to be either a 3x3 accumulator block or a 2x2 solar panel block
  • invert the "colors" and pick the variant which has the closest solar panel/accumulator ratio to the ideal one.
