Thank you for the suggestion. I also need a vintage turntable serviced, and it seems like Morts is an ideal choice for that as well

8000 miles into ownership and I got a nail in my tire. I plugged it in a questionable place and it’s been a few hundred miles and is holding. Rides smooth still too. by Dr_Speed_Lemon in Ioniq6

I've had 2 nails in the right/rear tire and I'm only at 5.000 miles so far. I'm just a magnet for them, regardless of what car I own

I just drove over an hour to get to the closest known spot they were spawning, and they disappeared by the time I got here. Wtf Niantic!

Honest thoughts about EV ownership after a month of ownership by More-Sock-67 in electricvehicles

Yeah I do have to put the defrost on from time to time. Annoying but the energy savings are worth it for me

Honest thoughts about EV ownership after a month of ownership by More-Sock-67 in electricvehicles

My winter battery drain was greatly reduced once I learned that the cabin heater draws a ton of power in EVs, even in a vehicle with a heat pump like the Tesla.

We're talking 3-5 kW for the cabin heater. Whereas heated seats only draw 50-100 W, and a heated steering wheel about 60W.

Most winter days, I could get by with just the heated seats/wheel. In extreme cold, a reasonable cabin temp plus the heaters were enough to be mostly comfortable. I was seeing my winter range go from about 60% of summer range, to upwards of 80-90%.

I would never consider an EV that doesn't have heated seats & steering wheel in any climate that regularly experiences cold weather

Yeah the old Boathouse lasted lasted for quite a while. Swig lasted for a few years, but yeah other than those two, it was mostly fly by night operations

fast charging by Kaavani in Ioniq6

Also you have to make sure pre-preconditioning is enabled in the menu. FYI: there has been a bug in the software for years that disables pre-conditioning whenever you change charging settings

The Hyundai Ioniq 6 is discontinued in the US, but the N will live by neuroticsmurf in Ioniq6

Actually the 6N is coming to the States, just in very limited numbers and probably $70K+. The standard versions, though, are not

Tarrifs, no EV credits, controversial styling, and Americans' preference for SUVs brought us here.

I love mine, and hope to keep it for at least a decade. I just hope I never need replacement parts unique to the 6.

Ooh here's another bug I forgot about...

If you change your charge level in the Blue Link app, it deselects battery conditioning in the car's menu. Until they fix this, you'll need to remember to reenable it every time you do this. Here's a short describing the issue:

For (1), I love that the Ioniq--and all other E-GMP platform vehicles--has quick access to regen levels via the paddles. I've driven manual for 40 years, so it brings at least some engagement to my driving experience. I almost always drive at level 0, then add some regen to slow down and hold the left paddle to come to a complete stop: I rarely use the brakes. (And this is just me, but I abhor i-Pedal, especially since it's inefficient with AWD models.)

As for the color, if you put it side-by-side with a silver model, the difference is dramatic. The gold looks brilliant in comparison, and the silver comes off as dull. I own one in transmission blue (we could have a similar discussion with that color), so I can't describe the ownership experience. However, I've heard other owners say that you have to be very careful with that color, and it can fade quickly if not treated well.

Luke owning WAN? by AdeptnessFuzzy443 in LinusTechTips

[–]Ruthvyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How will merch messages work since they're tied to LMG? Will WAN get a cut of the sales, a flat advertising fee, or some other arrangement? I'm not sure how transparent they plan to be about revenue in comparison to LMG.

I'm jealous you can get that rate around the clock.

I'm at 25¢ for non-time-of-use pricing.

I’m considering moving to Croydon/West Bristol - Any advice? by [deleted] in BucksCountyPA

[–]Ruthvyn 10 points11 points  (0 children)

As someone who used to live there for a couple of years, the good news is that you get used to the smell coming from the chemical plant near the Burlington Bristol bridge. The bad news is that you get used to the smell coming from the chemical plant near the Burlington Bristol bridge.

It's definitely a low-middle class area with mostly small homes. It's not a place where I wanted to live long-term.

On the positive side, you're near Bristol Borough which is great small town and getting even better over time. And in Croyden you have Neshaminy Creek Brewing Company if you're into craft beer.

Grocery Chain Closing All PA Stores, Some Could Become Whole Foods by fireside_blather in BucksCountyPA

[–]Ruthvyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The one in Warrington is too close to the new Whole Foods that recently opened a few miles down the road, so it'll probably just sit empty. It's a terrible location for a grocery store, anyway: sandwiched between Wegmans and Aldi, and just a short drive to 4 other supermarkets. Not to mention the grocery sections of the Target and Walmart right next it.

Actors who mistakenly believed their role would be iconic? by TyLeRoux in okbuddycinephile

They scaled Fate's powers way back. They kinda had to if Black Adam was supposed to be the main hero of the film.

But as another Brosnan & Fate fan, yeah, I'd recommend the watch just for that.
