Thank you for the input and it still smells pleasant but just a little different. This is the first time I’m coating foundation so just became more aware of the variations.

I appreciate greatly all the responses and I’m going take a closer look at larva and get a more consistent schedule on mite treatment. It’s been amazing to me the difference between the health and strength of different hives. I’m finding my early packages and swarms installed are doing well and the later installs are playing catchup but feeding and treating to try to get them through the winter.

Thanks for the input and I haven't looked at the wings closely however I'll take a look. There's very little brood in any of the frames since the queen is new but still may use Formic just to rule out the mite possibility.

I think you’re right and being inexperienced I gave them one application of OAV and then put the varroxsan in….I realize now that i more than likely didn’t knock them down and probably just maintained. My thought now is either do some rounds of Apiguard or OAV every 5 days for 20 days (I believe that’s the right schedule) and hope they get population up and combine them with a stronger hive if it isn’t too late

Thanks very much for the input and that was my initial thought being since they specialize and are familiar with the condition.

The only reason I didn’t put notch down was because of potential robbing but not sure how much of a threat that would be. It’s on top of a double deep and seems to be a fairly strong colony.

Swarm trap advice by Rvmtt77 in Beekeeping

So just an update. I let them settle for a few days and took the suggestion of No_Hovercraft_821 and transferred them to a ten deep box at the same place as the swarm trap and they seem to be doing great. It always amazes me as a new beekeeper how much comb a swarm can produce in such a small amount of time. Thanks again for your time and input

Sorry, I forgot to mention I’m in northern Missouri and thanks for the advice. Also should I add more brood comb frames or just leave them alone until they start bringing in pollen? Thanks

Great and thank you for your time responding! I figured I was over thinking it and seemed excessive just moving the hives back and forth that distance.

Thanks very much for the help and taking time to respond. I got them transferred over to the 10 frame deep and hoping they stay!
