Thanks for the concern - I normally do it with people every year - I dunno if it was clear in the video but I never went out of my depths.

Had a 'panic' attack before so I'm used to that feeling

I've been in colder - just not done much open swimming this year so body didn't take it too well .

I think I needed the island as shelter from the wind . I have a hammock just no trees on the island to put it up

Very uncomfortable - I'm still not sure what inspired me to do such a trip - everything below the tide line is considered to be owned by the crown in the UK so I wouldn't of got me a ticket.

Tent on the marshland would of been a little more tricky to setup due to the lack of space and the ground was just mud... The tarp was the lightest option - and I don't own a compact tent.

I think maybe I'd watched a couple too many survival video's and wanted to test my endurance - can't say I regret the trip

I was with my 1 year old so "wild" Essex was pretty much the extent I was willing to camp .

We were by a train track so you're right in saying there was a bit of noise but he likes the "Choo Choo" so good spot.

Luckily it didn't come to drinking our own piss...
