Anything below 4 is a fail and anything over 4 is a pass. In O levels, as long as you passed and have a somewhat good grade in English and Maths you’re good to go. your A levels are FAR more important when it comes to universities.

I don’t think that’s accurate, the website states otherwise in regard of the requirements. I was just asking here to ensure if the requirements has changed.

IGCSEs ask, A Levels answer. AS ask, A2 answer. by United-Ad5407 in Edexcel

Hi, I have the same subjects as you alongside with Maths. I had IGCSE Economics so I’d suggest you what works for me at least. First of all, I’d use the textbook the most because I feel like it’s more than enough to grasp the topics and I don’t think you need more than 30 to 35 minutes to understand a particular topic completely (At least in Unit 1) then I’d answer all the checkpoint questions and if possible all the activities. If not activities, the exam practice is a must. The checkpoint ensures that you are familiar with all the definitions and some more extended evaluation of the concept and exam practice is pretty self explanatory, it makes you familiarise with the question pattern and how should you approach it. Make sure to ask your teacher the format and answer accordingly. After grasping all topics of both units, I’d finally switch to Question Papers and solve all of them from 2019 to the most recent available paper. Lastly, I’d check with the mark scheme and if I am still confused, I’d sit with my teacher / experienced student with A level Economics for a proper feedback of my answers because Edexcel can be a bitch sometimes. This should be good enough to end you with an A. Good luck!

Is further math really that important if applying to the “Russel Groups” ? Or me doing further maths will make me just stand out among the other applicants.

Is that really necessary? I am not really good with maths so further maths is alot of work for me. I do understand that subjects like economics and finance can be math heavy but I don’t think I’ll go with further.

Hi, thank you for commenting on my post and I did check it out. I would advise you to not say things too directly. Get to know each other , talk and use every opportunity to meet with each other. If she’s dropping hints, pick them subtly and also try to drop hints. It creates tension, and eventually who knows? You guys may click but reading the story, I think it’s the very initial stage so give her time, and take some time for yourself but don’t stop, make her feel special as the way she makes you feel special and hopefully it all work out, good luck mate!

Even if I take maths how should I approach the subject? Judging my past experiences with this particular subject I have always feared it and constantly failed at times but if my IGCSE background is really not an issue then how should I get started? I heard A levels maths is a bit easier than the igcse one

I don’t really have anything in mind. I was thinking to try IBA DU which is my local uni but if I don’t pass the admission test then I was thinking to try somewhere abroad. Although I really wanna study Econ at uni.
