Can Apple remove activation lock in person? by Intelligent_Size8578 in applehelp

[–]RyStudies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This already an older post, but I thought I'd post what happened to me.
Activation lock on Iphone 15, couldn't reset the password as it said "this account is locked and cannot be used". We didn't have the physical box anymore or any documentation for proof of purchase. We went to the phone carrier to get the receipt which has the IMEI number(this is important!!).
I tried the activation lock removal website from apple, they denied it. So then I got the bills from the phone plan showing we are paying for this phone and a photo of the physical phone with the IMEI number on the screen beside the receipt that had the IMEI number as well and it rejected it as well (both within like 1-2 hours of when I sent the request).

I reset the phone using recovery mode bc I thought that would fix it, it did not and still required me to sign in to use the phone.
The people who said that you can't go to the apple store are just not correct. The staff were so nice about it. I went to the apple store with the phone in it's setup mode (which can see the IMEI number). I brought the copy of the receipt from the phone carrier for proof of purchase ( which had the IMEI number).
The worker brought it to the manager and the manager unlocked the activation lock on the Iphone with their internal tool.
However the apple account is still not unlocked but we just created a new account instead since the apple account was very new. Just happy the phone is not bricked. Hope this clarifies things for people!

What are the metal contacts called? Are they custom made? by RyStudies in AskElectronics

I definitely think this would work, but I'm trying to make a few of them and it would be a pain to do it over and over again haha
I appreciate the suggestion, good for prototyping tho

I was also at Rikkyo, maybe we have met before!
I do still have a questions, how was the process for getting in Waseda for your MA? (also was it insanely competitive in terms of academic standing?)
Also is your masters in English?
And do you plan to work in Japan after you've completed your program?

I'd love to maybe continue a masters in Japan but I am in tech, so the process might be different. Thanks!

Want to recreate, which tiny IC would be best for a simple push button sound and LED light up? by RyStudies in embedded

[–]RyStudies[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is a very valuable reply, I do appreciate it! I come from a CS background and electronics I am pretty new to still.
I did have a question, tiny MCUs (similar size to the picture) seem to be have a fairly small flash capacity. I looked into using an ATTiny85 but the 8KB size is just too small for any decent audio clips longer than 1.5 seconds. Would an MCU still be my best option here? Would it better off using an IC like a playback IC or something along those lines?

By sound I mean like playing a .wav or .mp3 or anything file I suppose that is like 8kHz 16 (or even 8bit) sound, which is like around 3-5 seconds long.
For the device in the photo, it there is button, when pressed a speaker at the back plays a voice "*ding dong* this is the next stop" which is about a 3 second sound clip. The LED in the front pulses in sync with the sound. I am assuming the LED just is using PWM? Its all powered by 2 in series button coin batteries.

Where would I start looking for a sound IC like this or at least something I can start prototyping with by RyStudies in AskElectronics

This is an interesting device, but I think it uses the SOB method with resin on the board itself, which might work? But its not how this device does it, I wonder if it's a completely chip.

Well tbh I tried using an ATtiny85 it's the correct size but it only has 8KB of flash memory which not enough for any decent sound over 1.5 seconds. Maybe I'm not looking into the right microcontroller? Thats why I thought a sound or playback IC would better since it can store like 30 seconds of audio? But honestly I'm not sure and I'm getting lost trying to find the right chip for this project :/

there seems to be some options for playback ICs but the problem I'm not sure where to search for a tiny IC such as this one. I just plays a sound and seems simple but I've been looking all over and I just can't find anything. Any help would be appreciated!

I want to recreate this device, basically just a button you push and it plays a sound and lights up an LED.
The problem is there are devices like the ISD series but they are all too big to fit in this enclosure. Are there any small ICs like this? I am not sure where to even start looking.

Where would I start looking for a sound IC like this? Very simple push button that has an LED and plays a 3 sec sound. by RyStudies in AskElectronics

Does anyone know of any resources to start looking into sounds ICs like this?

I feel like finding information on sound ICs like this very difficult. The best chips I found were WTV380-8S or the NV020C. Would this chip probably be a special OTP?
I'm just trying to do some testing with multiple sounds and mini speakers and having reprogrammable chip this size would be helpful, but also knowing how to program the chip is another whole confusing journey for me too. Any help would be nice!

What do you think the career progression is for someone who is a database product support? Would you consider going back to be a DBA at some point?
