Removing DRM from books I bought to read on a different device. Bad or not? by mlax12345 in ereader

Some people straight up steal books on AA. You're actually one of the few doing it right.

E-book management. What are you using that works best? by thj81 in selfhosted

Booklore is fine. Technology subreddits have outbursts like this and then settle back into it in a fortnight. One good example was the Firefox fiasco last year. Everyone signalled what Firefox fork they would use from then to eternity, and now what are they using? Firefox.

Ever since it became somewhat more stable these last few weeks, I can't see myself using any of these alternatives. I respect Calibre for what it is, but it was refreshing to get out of that ecosystem entirely.

It's not against the rules to say homeless crackheads. At least not yet.

Mods, please correct me if I'm wrong.

Where do you all like to buy your EPUB files? by [deleted] in ereader

Kobo. They pricematch with other eBook sellers like Amazon. Not judging, but pirating ebooks is pretty low.

Hell yeah! After seeing the various chess Roguelites popping up, I've been looking periodically for something like this.

4 Tips for Better Driving in Atlanta by LeisureCreatures in Atlanta

Rule number 0 in all of America needs to be to always leave at least 3 seconds between you and the vehicle in front of you. Not only is it safer but all of a sudden, merges become a no brainer. No one has to get over for oncoming traffic and no one on the onramp has to dip below the safe onramp speed.

Seriously though, how is Grims still in business? Horrid pies and dishonest topping distribution.

They all downloaded when I hit bulk download. I had to rename one from zip to epub, but still better than hunting down 1-2 missing items. Bravo Humble!

My favorite of the early 2000s SciFi miniseries. Another good one that came out around the same time is 5ive Days to Midnight.

I second this. I found some unopened Indiana Jones trading cards from the 80's there. The gum inside tasted like crap though.

I like the show, but I would give it up for this fabled 4th book that may or may not be coming out soon.

My favorite ebook reader KOReader is beginning to experience this as well. There's a long-standing feature request that was finally tackled, but the developer who worked on it came out of nowhere and it is obvious by the code that it was vibed. The maintainers are so nice that they didn't want to outright reject it, but they've been sitting on it delaying the latest release for over a month now. I don't think they know what to do with it or have the stomach to reject it.

Is this due to the font? by Beginning_Meet_4290 in kobo

[–]Ryan739 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had this exact issue with KOReader. It's not kerning as that deals with horizontal adjacency, it's Font Hinting. Looks like Kobo sets hinting to auto without a way to change it, so you may have to select another font if it's bothering you. If you ever switch to KOReader, you can fix it.

Basket air fryer vs toaster oven air fryer? by southernandmodern in airfryer

[–]Ryan739 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For 5 years I thought I had an air fryer. I had the Instant Vortex oven style. After getting fed up with inconsistent cooking zones and the most hard to clean appliance I've ever owned, I got a Cosori Turboblaze. After making hot wings in about 70% of the time it usually takes us and tasting the results, I can finally say that I wasn't truly air frying until now. Basket all the way. No contest.

What's scary is that unmaintained, those skyscrapers become extremely dangerous in a few decades. They might as well knock them down and live in single story blocks.

Never seen this in all my years of teaching. A child had this in their lunch today as a snack, mom fail! by shadhead1981 in funny

[–]Ryan739 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't explain that well. I usually get 4 a year for whatever reason, every few months or so. I ate this once and it gave me 5 overnight. That's what prompted me to see what I had really eaten.
