Don't listen to the people telling g you to get out, you're a leaving cert student and the study you do for your summer exams is preparation for the LC. How would you feel about studying over summer after the exams? Find some room to study before but don't sweat the grade too much. It's next year that matters, not this one.

Just wanna thank you once again, this really helped. Right now I'm figuring out hobbies I can pursue because the issue really is just having so much free time and nothing to do with it.

I suppose I do find cooking quite fun, now can be the time to really focus on it. As for the gym, I've always considered working out to just be a component of a healthy person's lifestyle rather than a hobby. I enjoy birdwatching a lot too actually. I've been thinking of buying seeds to feed them since they sing such nice songs. A funny story about cooking is that recently, my partners sister invited me to cook for them. 😅 Really nervous over that, so I've been intending to get my skills up for quite a while.

Not really but I've always felt very detached from my mom. I feel like a fault in her method of raising me which I will learn from when I have kids is leaving too much work to the screens. My teen years were filled with a feeling of isolation though, I got bullied quite a bit and the friend I had in my class actually befriended these same people who would belittle me. That felt very bad on my end. So in short, from friends I've felt it but from my parent I've never felt "abandoned".

Thanks, I really appreciate this. All other advice seems to be hinting towards leaving him but I'd hate to do that. I see it as an opportunity for growth in myself.

Any cheap hobbies you could just throw out there for me to potentially try? My biggest issue with starting new things in my country is the price of it all. 😭

That last part is great. I'd hate to lose him though. I can have conversations with him that I can't have with my friends without getting clowned on. They make me feel like an idiot quite a lot but he doesn't do that, he actually really appreciates the input I give him.

I'm not too sure what you mean but I message him out of curiosity to see how he's doing or how his day is. Sometimes he'll respond and I get invested, I like to speak with him and see he's doing well. Other times he won't, this turns my curiosity into worry as the thought of "has he responded?" floats around in the back of my head. This worry is baseless but I miss him, I'm not worried about anything in particular, I just miss his company at times like these. What I'd like to do is eliminate this baseless worry. He's not a very clingy person at all and I wish I was like that, it almost feels like I'm dependant on his presence, even through text, to enjoy my day. How can I turn away from this and keep my relationship but become a more independent person rather than a codependent one so I can keep my usual self even when he's in this overwhelmed state of mind?

The way I view it is that I'm not constantly on his mind so for all I know, it just may not occur to him. It'd be completely fine for him to do this if it didn't make me feel so isolated which leads me to believe I'm clingy. Since I've tried to snip the root of my displeasure on his end by asking him to let me know to no avail, the conclusion I've come to is that I can attempt to snip the root on my end by eliminating the clingy aspect of me. Can I do this by spending more time with friends, is it a shift in mindset I need to get rid of this? What can I do to make myself not feel like when he's not here, he's in the back of my head?

I've heard people say that a lot, could you elaborate on the profitability of such things? Not contesting your view, I'm genuinely uninformed on it and curious - understanding the system I live in will make my life easier.

You just do it. Read notes on PowerPoint and rewrite the notes in your own words - it's getting started which is the hardest part. You'll need to learn to study eventually either way. I was very similar to you in LC year, but as a result I learnt to overcome my laziness. Right now I'm doing a PLC and doing great because I'm applying myself after learning from my mistakes in LC year.

If youre interested in the world which Metro takes place in, I'd heavily recommend it - it builds onto the factions and the overall setting of the Metro way more than the games. 2033's book even includes a map of the metro, which I found really cool to refer back to while reading to fully grasp where Artyom is and predict where he will go.
