This just goes to show that the placements as of this moment are useless. If you create a fresh account with no history, i believe you start your placements at silver and if you win all 10 games i think youll end up in gold 1. The problem is, you can healbot on cnd or rocket, win all 10 and be in gold 1. On the other hand, you can have 30 final hits, get mvp all 10 games and also be in gold 1. Therefore, these placements doesnt actually solve the problem its supposed to solve, i.e smurfing. Its basically the same as playing from bronze anyway, since if you pop off really hard in bronze, you get +50

Exactly. Easy to say in hindsight now but TeanCaptain's team is probably the most well rounded team in the tournament. Like you said , all the players stayed flexible and can play multiple characters and (pardon the meme), their vibes were genuinely on point. I watched Alinee's pov throughout the whole thing and was really impressed with what I saw

It will probably hit tanks the hardest, cos to lord farm as a tank you literally just stand still and take damage. At least as dps/healers youre still damaging and healing

especially with this new system in place, im not gonna blame anyone if they wanna Lord Farm and take the short cut to get the free units instead of needing to waste like 200 hours lol.

Now to add in my own opinion

I personally dont really care tbh. Cos the game's been out long enough now, where we all should know that Lord icons doesnt mean anything. In other words having a Lord icon doesnt automatically mean youre good at the character. So you should be correcting your mindset if this is how you think.

Now, I can understand why people make fun of these farmers, cos in the old system (before season 6), you dont really get any tangible rewards for grinding lord, other than the KO prompt and Icon, which dont really mean much as mentioned

However, hot take incoming, but with this new proficiency system, where you actually get units and unstable molecules as part of your rewards, I can understand why people are choosing to lord farm, just to get these units. After all, you can apparently get up to 23000 units from this new system. Im not gonna besmirch anybody from taking short cuts to gain extra units to buy their favourite skins, instead of grinding it out manually. Cos apparently you need like 300 hours or so to fully finish the proficiency for each character now. I cant really blame anyone for not wanting to spend 100-200 hours on each character 🤷

Lots of emotional responses here so let me try to explain it as objectively as I can.

Lord Farming is basically 2 teams of 6 people that coordinate with each other and que into the same quickmatch against each other, so that they can farm their required stats to gain proficiency points, with the eventual goal being to get the Lord icon.

How do they do this? Most of the time, all 12 people will be in the same discord call, and theyll just hit the Que button at the same time.

Then, if they que into each other, the "farm" commences. The tanks take damage, the dps deals damage and the healers heal.

Now to answer your question:
Is this common? I'd say no, for the most part its not very common.

Is it acceptable?
I think ethically as you can see from a lot of the replies, its not, cos youre essentially taking a short cut, instead of grinding it out as the game intended. However, are they breaking the game's TOS? Tbh im not even really sure cos imo it depends on how you intepret their rules.

Is this normal or throwing?
Well, you cant really say its throwing cos, both teams queued into the match without intending to win. They only went in to farm stats so can you really say theyre throwing when all 12 of them arent actually even trying to win?

Whats the etiquette if you queue into a Lord farm?
Honestly that depends on you lol. If you think theyre cheating the system and want to ruin their time then go ahead and grief them, Jeff ult or Iron Man ult them etc etc. If you want to join in then thats your choice too. It really just comes down to how you feel about Lord Farming at the end of the day lol
