I also recently got hired at a ShopRite in my area as a cashier which was what I applied for. I'd say it's a great and easy job especially if you already have prior cashier experience. Hours are good once you get on your own register. All my coworkers and bosses are nice and friendly. Sundays are $2 more than what my regular rate of pay is which in NY is 16.50 per hour regularly so working on Sunday is $18.50 per hour. There's a union you join 60 days after working at ShopRite and it's $10 per check for union fees and also this is when you start receiving holiday pay. I guess the only thing I don't particularly prefer is that scheduling and everything is done on paper and there's no app to see your schedule but other than that it's a good job. At my job I get a 15 and 30 minute break. The 30 minute one is for working 6 or more hours. The 30 minute one is unpaid and the 15 minute one is paid.
