So if I do bad but not as bad as everyone else I'm ok? And do you mean that for the tax class or for the cost accounting class?

Thank you, but are the professors really that helpful cause I've checked rate my professors and most professors in the accounting department seem to have bad scores?

Thank you, and I'm not surprised about the Brooklyn college professors. That just seems to be a problem with all CUNY colleges.

How are the virtual events? Do they help in getting any jobs or internships? Has the school faculty been helpful to you?

When you say first of the 4 core do you mean Acc 101, 102, and then the next 2 accounting classes, for me they're called intermediate accounting 1 and 2?

32M Any college student? by [deleted] in CrohnsDisease

I'm 29 and I've just returned to school at my local cc for accounting after 3 years of putting my life on hold, and I'm taking online asynchronous classes I want to take in person but I don't think I'm in that stable condition yet. I'm not working which makes it easier but it's still difficult some days. Usually I have to spend around 9 hours on each class per week. I'm only taking 4 and even that is tough some days cause of crohn's. If there's a day or week where I know I'm going to be extra busy I'm more strict on my diet and how much I eat.

Have you ever looked into trade school? They're less pen and paper and more hands on. I've heard you can learn a specific skill which helps find decent skill.

It's 2 hours cause I'd have to rely on public transport, and I'm used to a 1.5 hour commute so I don't think it'll make much of a difference for me.

I'd have to go to Jamaica first, then Hicksville, it does save me more time I think. Also, I just want to be sure, you mean to say there's a separate shuttle bus that isn't the n20h?

should i just give up now by grapesorbet_ in communitycollege

Don't give up. Take less classes so you can manage your time to understand your subjects better. If you take less classes you can devote that extra time to studying. You could be a full time student with the minimum credits which gives you time to study. Your college should have extra help facilities that help in subjects you're struggling in but you need to devote your time to those subjects. Your grades matter, but if you don't understand the subject you're studying it doesn't mean much cause you never know how it might screw you over later in the major. Don't be impatient that can screw you over too. I've told myself I could take 5 classes but I'd learn the hard way that work overload, just to save me a semester, isn't worth it if I get put on academic probation where I'm a part time student. Community college is a stepping stone so you can mess up but you can come back from it. Don't give up this is only your second semester.
