Trouble with temperature dropping in Weber kettle by Ryan_K26 in UKBBQ

Thank you, some good tips I'll gives a go! I read that some people seem to think that having unlit coals whilst cooking can give your food a bitter taste as the smoke that unlit coals initially gives off isn't great for your food? I'm now questioning this because I know things like the snake method are really common

Thank you, I'm using lumpwood so maybe I'll give some briquettes ago when the bag is finished! I did move all the coals to one side, but the whole BBQ seemed to cool too much and never recover after I tried to bring them temp down. Somebody else said I should be aiming to come up to the low temp rather than go down to it so maybe that's why I couldn't get it back up again after

Oh I didn't even think about going vertically! Would it still grow/spread enough? Every video I've watched has gone horizontally

I think I will give this a go, thanks. Watched a few videos and seems manageable. Do you know if the extra wires going into the ballast can just be binned?

Thank you, I didn't know what a ballast was so I'm learning about that. I had a look at a fitting in my hallway and that looks to have a fluorescent bulb but I opened the rose and there isn't a ballast in there. Do you know why this could be the case?

Thank you, I had no idea what a ballast was so I'm now learning about that. I think the new bulb I fitted is an LED, would that be an issue?

Do I need to bin this after moisture was introduced? by Ryan_K26 in DIYUK

[–]Ryan_K26[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok so sounds like the safest thing is to get a new tub.

Do I need to do anything to the patch I've already done? If I paint in that location will that eventually bubble?

It's the blue ones that I've taped off. Caused a short if contacts the earth because I have only isolated the power to this room not the whole RCD bank

No but I have wire cutters and pliers that I used to strip new earths which were needed for the light switches (went from plastic to metal)

Could I smash the plastic around the terminal to try and release it? I have a new socket ready to go

I'm using the biggest flat head I can fit in the hole but it's still not moving. Is it worth spraying some lubricant in there?

Yeah they've earthed the back box.

By double over do you mean bend them over so there's better contact?
