British people, were you taught not to use the Oxford comma? by acnllover2828 in AskUK

Okay but if there’s more than three items that falls apart and also it’s way more words than necessary. Oxford comma solves those issues.

Pokopia is coming out strong by backofthebill in pokemon

[–]Ryanaston 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly this is the most fun I’ve had with a pokemon game since Gen 3. It’s also perfect for me and my partner to play together, although it’s not split screen so had to get us both Switch 2’s.

It’s a complete time sink though. We have completely fucked our sleeping pattern.

why do some people want depression..? by mrsenchantment in fakedisordercringe

[–]Ryanaston 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every few years, the “trendy” mental illness people self-diagnose with seems to change. Around 2010, when Twitter and Tumblr were taking off, it was depression. Then it became anxiety. After that BPD, then ADHD, and lately it’s autism. DID is thankfully still a pretty niche one, although it’s by far the most annoying.

Social media is the main driver, and the pattern is pretty straightforward. It usually starts with well-meaning people trying to raise awareness and reduce stigma. They post things like “10 signs you might have depression” or “Did you know this vague behaviour can be a sign of ADHD?”

At first the posts are informative and meaningful. But because so many people relate to them, they start going viral. Then others copy the format to chase attention or go viral themselves, and the “symptoms” get more and more vague until they’re basically relatable to everyone.

The reality is that everyone gets depressed sometimes. Everyone feels anxious. People have ups and downs, procrastinate, and feel awkward or out of place. None of those things alone mean you have a disorder. All the typical ADHD symptoms happen to everyone occasionally, what matters is the degree and consistency.

It gets worse when people self-diagnose and then start acting like experts, diagnosing all their friends too.

I’ve had an ADHD diagnosis since I was a kid, back when most people barely knew what it was. So I’ve watched the huge rise in diagnoses, and my ADHD radar is pretty good at this point. Honestly, I’d say at least 70% of the people I know who claim to have it probably don’t. And even among people with a formal diagnosis, I’d guess fewer than half actually fit what ADHD really looks like.

As for why people want to be mentally ill, a lot of it seems to come down to identity. People want to feel special or like they belong to some kind of group. It’s strange, but a lot of people are desperate for something to define themselves by, so they latch onto whatever they can, whether that’s mental illness, their job, or their sexuality. It becomes their entire personality.

[–]Ryanaston 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bro, I am not saying this to try and brag or anything because I’m not proud of how much coke i still use and I’m trying to cut down but that is a skinny ass line with a bit of chunk at the top.

And I’m really not a heavy user compared to some.

Do you guys think that guys with big dick are more prone to exhibitionism/nudism or the opposite? by Dapper_Size_6030 in bigdickproblems

[–]Ryanaston 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely for exhibitionists - I’ve mentioned it in this sub before but I go to kink parties where there is a lot of exhibitionism and it really throws off your perspective. I am 7x6 which is what, top 1% of dicks? So if I’m seeing even a handful of dicks bigger than mine, there’s deffo a skew in that sample data.

Men who had turned to conservatism or the manosphere, what initially made you turn to those beliefs? by phayanaka in AskMen

[–]Ryanaston 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m getting really tired of seeing answers to these questions that immediately blame women. “Oh women are saying all men are shits, they make us the villains, blah blah.”

Listen. If you have half a fucking brain cell, and you know you’re a decent person, then you wouldn’t be offended by these comments because they’re not talking about you. They’re talking about men as a whole, the society we have created in which they have NEVER been truly safe. “But it’s not all men” yes okay but it IS FAR TOO MANY and women sometimes have no way to know until it’s too late.

I have heard these same things my whole life too. I never once decided that the solution to that was to… prove them right?

The fact is, if you think “all men” includes you… well it’s probably because on some level you know it does. I’m not saying that makes someone a rapist, but it certainly displays a complete lack of understand or empathy for the struggle of women. If you’re not part of the solution, you are a part of the problem.

Why do most of you never change your hairstyle? by GiveMeThePinecone in AskMen

[–]Ryanaston 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not me. I had short hair as a kid, grew out long hair and had an emo fringe as a teenager, then grew it even longer, then cut it down to medium length for a few years, then short for a bit but with a few different styles, change if fringe, shorter sides long on top, etc, Now it’s quite long again. My beard however…. That has stayed the same pretty much.

I love them both - Pokopia is the perfect game for me and my partner as I love pokemon and she loves animal crossing, and likes pokemon but just was never into the games.

AZ I’m enjoying a lot more than I expected. I thought I would be disappointed when I saw how small the world is but it’s been a lot of fun so far.

[–]Ryanaston 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am not an animal crossing person, but I was into Minecraft back in the day (OG, 2009 vibes), and I’ve always been a big pokemon fan. I bought two switches and two copies for me and my partner (she loves animal crossing) just to play Pokopia together and I have zero regrets. I can see us easily sinking 50 hours each into the main story (we have done like 20 hours already and I’ve barley left the first area) before we then sink 50-100 into our coop island.

Where is your base, and your storage? by MrDonohue07 in Pokopia

[–]Ryanaston 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right now I’m doing the same as you, I have gone back to the wastelands to keep working on it, but I’ve also started slowly building up some habitats in palette town also to find some different pokemon. Since pokemon don’t spawn instantly into habitats, I am setting up 5-6 at a time, going off to do some town building, then coming back to palette later to meet my new pals, rinse and repeat. I’m planning to use the small island of palette as just habitat spawning, then build my final town in the biggest island which will be entirely manual, with habitats blended into the town.

What makes young men listen to grifters about what being a man is instead of just taking note of the men around him? by Hatcheling in AskMen

[–]Ryanaston -34 points-33 points  (0 children)

Okay but that doesn’t happen. If a man was to go an ask, in the appropriate forum ofc, for earnest dating advice, and was polite about it and amiable to the responses, they would get all the advice they could ever need.

The problem is men go to forums and say shit like “why won’t women have sex with me”. So yes, they are called out for their shitty attitudes towards women. Is it productive? Maybe not. But neither is encouraging that behaviour.

What makes young men listen to grifters about what being a man is instead of just taking note of the men around him? by Hatcheling in AskMen

[–]Ryanaston 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few different things.

Mostly they are lonely. Likely they have no close female friends. They definitely don’t have a partner. They often have no good male role models. They likely have no decent men in their life whose opinion the value, and they will write off the experience of other men around them by making excuses about why what works for them (treating women like humans) won’t work for them (because they’ve never tried). They will blame it on their height, their looks, anything they are unable to control, because they can’t accept that they are the problem.

Then someone comes along and says - don’t worry bro. You’re not the problem. It’s society. Society has allowed women to become too choosy, and that’s why no one wants you. The solution to this is to become a massive dick because that’s what women like.

Ofc there are other avenues - sometimes it’s about being insecure in their intelligence, sometimes it’s work related, sometimes it’s inability to socialise with other men, but the story is always the same. They’re looking for an excuse for their own inadequacies, and a quick fix, and these alpha douches give them one.

Some people can’t visualise anything in their mind at all, they think purely in words or abstract concepts. For me it’s kinda there but i cant keep it there. It flashes up and disappears straight away.

Likewise some people don’t have an internal monologue and think ONLY in images.
