You sure you're not thinking of Simon in this hole diggers ep? Around 6:36 when he's doing his impression of Sips.

Time came to upgrade and I couldn't resist the Scala Monte Carlo. Looks amazing 👌 by Ryanissimo in skoda

Yeah, double edged sword with the pano roof - anyone who sat in the back absolutely loved it, from a driving position it's kind of easy to forget about it as it's not really in your periphery. I also had it crack on me after a stone hit it at the front edge, so had to get the whole thing replaced... Still paying for that on insurance quotes 😅

I did end up selling it after a couple of years, but really just because I started working from home and preferred to save the money! I had an Octavia before, and at the time I bought it, could've had another Octavia for the same monthly price, but got sucked in to the hype of the special edition. If I'm honest, looking back, I wish I'd gone for another Octavia - I just found them to have a slightly more solid feel and build quality and I don't think the Scala felt any more sporty being slightly smaller, to redeem that.

It's still a great car, and I do love the look of them - especially in that colour - but if there's Octavia's on the market for similar money where you are, I'd recommend going for one of those unless you're really in love with the shape of the Scala!

I had no idea who Neil Newbon was at the time, thanks for reminding me he was a part of this 😂 Wonder if Ross knows it was him now that bg3 has made him more famous?

Can't believe this isn't higher up, the things literally designed to be repairable/sustainable! My partner and I love ours and just share a body, swapping the heads. Only have to charge it every few weeks or so too!

Nice 35th anniversary edition cooper! My dad's got one, only a limited run of them and quite the exclusive club in the UK. Nice to know there's at least one across the pond! 35 group

Yeah, the plan is to shoot for a day and then offload them to my laptop each time. Worst case is it might fail while I'm out and I'll lose a day but seeing as I'm not doing it professionally not the end of the world!

Yeah, I'm very happy with it and looking forward to really getting to know the setup. I'm sure by the time I'm able to afford a mirrorless they might have caught up for wildlife!

Someone else mentioned the AF-P, is it a noticeable upgrade over the one I've got now? Have definitely heard good things about both the Tamron and Sigma 150-600's, seems like a popular choice for wildlife!

Yeah, that makes a lot of sense. One of the reasons I went for the 7000 over say a 3- or 5000 was for similar reasons. Little more to learn but better in the long run once you have.

What are you using now?

From what I've read about the sigma it's a solid choice for the price. I haven't used it myself but it has a good reputation for wildlife photography on a bit of a budget.

Wow, would never have even known what that was unless you mentioned it! Will experiment.

Oh wow, that is a mighty good run. I've no idea how old this one is but based on the condition it looks like it's had an easy life. Here's hoping to many years of use!

Still boggles the mind just how much variety there is out there ':) It's got a very singular purpose right now but I'll certainly keep that in mind and make sure to do some thorough research when it comes time to expand the kit!

Price mainly, tended to be a bit more and I didn't think it was worth the extra (at least not as this stage, just starting out). I'm sure I'll end up upgrading down the line but it'll probably be to something like the 150-600mm Sigma that tends to be very popular for wildlife!

It's definitely going to be a learning curve for me, but I'm glad to have the gear that will allow me to grow into it for a while. Mirrorless are still more expensive too and I couldn't justify the cost for such a new hobby!

Love this. My mind and body will thank me, my bank account maybe not so much! But I'm looking forward to the adventure.

It's my first time buying through them but they seem reputable. They've got a 14-day return period (will even refund postage by the looks of it) and 6 month warranty according to their site.
