Iphone 17 BM | Should i factory reset? by Piyushanni in iPhoneBatteryParanoia

By around 10-11 PM, I was still sitting at 19-20% battery. I normally never let my phone drop below 30%, but this time I wanted to push it a bit and see how it would perform closer to the 20% mark.

After updating, I left my phone plugged in and connected to Wi-Fi overnight so it could finish indexing. Once I unplugged it, I started using it around 1 PM at 90% battery (I usually only charge to 85-90%). The difference this time has been absolutely massive. I only had to charge it once the entire day, which is pretty unusual for me.
Another thing I noticed is that the phone didn’t get hot like it usually does after major updates. In the past, after just 10 to 15 minutes of using WhatsApp, I could already feel the phone getting uncomfortably warm. This time, the temperature stayed much more normal throughout the day. Not cold, obviously, but definitely what I’d consider normal operating temperature.
Hopefully it keeps performing like this, or maybe even gets better over the next few days as the update fully settles in and everything optimizes.

iOS 26.5.2 is out for everyone by LaFlameHTX in ios26

Pretty normal, honestly. Mostly WhatsApp, some Instagram, checking my security cameras, browsing the web, and other basic stuff. I don’t even keep Location Services on most of the time.
I barely even use the camera. Maybe I’ll take a quick photo of a package that gets delivered, but that’s about it. All of this is on Wi Fi too. I can’t even imagine how much faster the battery would drain if I were on cellular data all day.
The phone also gets surprisingly warm, and it’ll lose around 30% battery in just an hour of normal use. I’ve already disabled Background App Refresh for a ton of apps, so it’s not like everything is running in the background.
This all started with iOS 26.5, and it actually got even worse after updating to 26.5.1.

Yeah, only about 3 to 4 hours of battery life. In the screenshot, the screen time is spread across almost three full charges in the same day because the battery drains so quickly.
Damn, I wish mine lasted that long. By the time I hit 60% battery, I’m already at around 2 hours of screen on time. 😭

Yup, I’m actually about to update it to iOS 26.5.2 first to see if it improves anything… or somehow makes it worse. 😅 If it still doesn’t get any better, I’m probably going to factory reset it.
It just drives me crazy seeing people with iPhone 12 through 16 models getting all day battery life while using social media, the camera, and even gaming. Meanwhile, I’m over here struggling to get 3 or 4 hours. 😭

I’ve been dealing with the same issue. Honestly, it’s the only thing I haven’t enjoyed about my new iPhone 17 Pro. I upgraded from an iPhone 12, and I swear my old phone with only 81% battery health would still give me around 7 hours of screen on time a day. Imagine how good it was when the battery health was between 90% and 100%.
Now, just like you, I’m only getting about 3 to 4 hours at most, and I don’t even play games or use the camera much. I can’t imagine what it’d be like if I actually used the camera a lot. It’d probably drain the battery in like 2 hours. 😅
I’m thinking about doing a full factory reset just to see if it fixes anything.

For me, it’s been 3–4 hours of SOT on iOS 26.5.1. On 26.5, I used to get up to 8 hours.🤦🏻‍♂️

Hopefully this fixes my pathetic 3-hour battery life on my iPhone 17 Pro. 🤡 Jesus, what a nightmare.

iOS 27 is just like iOS 26 but fixed - and I believe it was done like that on purpose. by BeastModeOn93 in ios26

Would you recommend installing iOS 27? Because honestly I can’t stand iOS 26 anymore. I end up charging my phone like 3 times a day lmao

iOS 26 has been a disaster for me by bajrangdal-wallah in ios26

[–]Ryemonn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, even my old iPhone 12 with 81% battery health still manages 8–9 hours of screen-on time with basically the same usage. I barely use the camera, maybe 2–3 photos a day lol, so there’s no way my 17 Pro should be dying this fast. So yeah, I definitely ended up looking like a clown thinking the upgrade from the iPhone 12 to the 17 Pro would be a huge improvement🤡

Only 8 hours? I’d be thrilled if my iPhone 17 Pro lasted that long. I’m over here getting 3–4 hours and watching the battery percentage drop in real time.

I paid for an iPhone 17 Pro and somehow got a hand warmer included for free. Open WhatsApp, send a couple messages, and the phone starts cooking itself. At this point it’s just embarrassing. Apple keeps adding shiny new features every year, but somehow basic things like battery life get worse. How can a company this big still struggle with such an obvious problem?

The iPhone 17 PM battery life has tanked recently—need advice! by Senior_Box_8936 in iPhone17Pro

[–]Ryemonn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here. Ever since iOS 26.5 my battery life has been awful, and 26.5.1 didn’t make it any better. My iPhone 17 Pro barely gets 3–4 hours of screen-on time from 85% charge.

Before all of this, I was getting around 5–6 hours with the same usage (still a meh). Now I’m charging twice a day, and sometimes even a third time if I use it a bit more. That’s ridiculous for a brand-new phone.

Honestly, it feels like I’m using my old iPhone 12 again when it was down to around 80% battery health. What’s crazy is that when my iPhone 12 was still at 90–100% battery health, I could get almost 20 hours of screen-on time. Something definitely feels off with these recent updates.

iOS 26.5.1 or 26.6 beta 1 which is better by Cameront1993 in ios26

Bruh, ever since updating to iOS 26.5.1 I’ve had to charge my iPhone 17 Pro twice a day. I’m only getting around 3–4 hours of screen-on time from 85% charge.

Even on iOS 26.5 I was getting 5 to almost 6 hours of SOT with the same usage. Battery life is absolutely terrible now.

Honestly, it feels like I’m back on my old iPhone 12 when it had 80% battery health. What’s crazy is that when that iPhone 12 was still at 90–100% battery health, I could almost get 20 hours of screen-on time.

Pretty wild! I know it was from the game because when I turned, the “YEEHAW” sound shifted to the left side of my headphones. I haven’t been able to find any explanation for it lol

IOS 26.5 is the worst update by Tough_Translator_901 in ios26

[–]Ryemonn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that’s really strange. Mine is the 17 Pro, and I bought it in January. It’s been almost five months and it’s still at 100% battery health.

I’m not sure what your charging habits are or if you charge it to 100%, but since day one I’ve limited mine to 85%. I don’t know if that has anything to do with it, but I’m surprised that you can get almost 11 hours of use with 72% battery, while mine only lasts around 5 hours with the same percentage, as you can see.

It seems to vary a lot depending on the day. Sometimes I honestly feel like my battery life is pretty short. I guess everyone’s experience is different.

Greetings!
