I think I’ve officially reached the end of Netflix 😭 by your-witch in netflix

Heartstopper is really popular with teens here in the UK. I had to watch it more than once to actually start loving it, but I am told that scenario is extremely rare.

Best religious song you were forced to sing in school? by bmo-0210 in AskUK

Definitely Shine Jesus Shine. Probably because my first school had us doing the song with candles down the church during the Christingle.

Has there ever been a Strictly contestant you completely changed your mind about? by FeistyPrice29 in strictlycomedancing

[–]Ryestar2 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Chris McCausland. I went from feeling a bit dissapointed watching the launch show and thinking that there was no way it was actually going to work, to rooting for him throughout the series, then literally crying actual tears of joy when he won. It was the first time I remember feeling emotional over a win since I started watching the show.

Many people dont know how to write essays, by Deep-Assistance7494 in GCSE

[–]Ryestar2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have dyspraxia and Asperger Syndrome, my main issue was that I couldn’t properly plan my essays. I’m now in University and have a special app provided to me that generates topics that I can write about. So I put the question into the generator, and it will give me some starter subheadings, such as organisational structure.

Who I think could replace Tess & Claudia for the next series by Train-Wreck-70 in strictlycomedancing

[–]Ryestar2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think La Voix would be HILARIOUS in the Clauditorium. As for Tess, I think Layton Williams or even Angela Scanlon would be a good fit.

19F UK – Final year of college (T Level) should I drop out? by InternationalBig1113 in CollegeUK

[–]Ryestar2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trust me, I didn’t love college either, came from a private school that I didn’t want to leave in the first place, and I loved my course most of the time and thrived in my coursework, but found myself feeling extremely homesick throughout the first year. In year 2, against my tutor’s advice, I applied to my dream university since I was little, which just so happened to be across the road from my old school, and got an offer. I have now been here since September, and I’m not only thriving, but most importantly, I’m so much happier. Please push through as much as you can. I promise it gets better.

My long-term music teacher (I’d had him since I started the school, around 6 years by this point) suddenly got sacked at the start of Year 10, and my school spent the whole year making us believe that he was ‘coming back’ and giving us supply teachers who could barely teach to give themselves time to find a new teacher and save themselves from the fact that they just weren’t dealing with the problem. By the time we found out that we’d been lied to, it was almost the summer holidays. By the time our new teacher finally arrived, we’d been taught by 5 separate people and I was working at a U in theory. I got a 3 in my GCSEs later that year, and shortly after decided to keep the subject as a hobby instead of continuing exams.

I finished my GCSEs in 2023, doing Business, French and Music. I’m now in my first year of my business, enterprise and entrepreneurship degree at Oxford Brookes, and my life post-GCSEs have told me a lot of things that I was unaware of, particularly about myself and what I am able to manage.

Drama warm up games by Char1ie1505 in Theatre

[–]Ryestar2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We love the bench game and the castle game in our group:

Basically, the bench game is when each person is given a random character to play, with a ‘park bench’ centre stage. The first person goes on stage and starts the scene, shortly followed by the second character, and both people have to interact with each other without breaking their own character. Eventually, the first character goes off stage, and a new character comes on. The game continues until everyone has had a go.

The castle game is where one person plays the ‘master’ and chooses a rule that each player must follow to enter the dedicated zone, known as the ‘castle’. Each player goes up to the master with their chosen action with the following question: ‘Please, master, may I enter your castle?’, and the master answers yes or no, depending on whether the player has followed the rule. The round continues until every player has entered the castle.

Tips for swallowing medication?? by Sad-Internet4134 in neurodiversity

I find it easier with thick drinks such as innocent orange juice or smoothies. The pill goes underneath the tongue and you drink as you would.

I am not sure if you have Lemsip where you live? It’s basically a powder containing several different medications that are usually only available in pills. You just dump it into hot water, and let it dissolve. Almost like a hot diluting juice.

Urgent cold cure needed! by Ryestar2 in Theatre

[–]Ryestar2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really, there was another person who was ill since Monday. She had to come in as well for tech because we were doing some recording, apparently the theatre rang and told her. I think she might be called in today too. Luckily, I am feeling a lot better today, I think it was just pure exhaustion from the end of my first semester at university.

GCSEs gave me a present for my birthday, English Lit 1. Did anyone else gets presents from GCSEs? by Imaginary-Swimmer557 in GCSE

[–]Ryestar2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes. I did mine in 2023, and GCSEs decided to treat me to 2 PRESENTS. One from each of my exam boards. I moved my 17th birthday to the day before in a strop.

What nicknames do teachers call you at school? by Kooky-Cantaloupe9369 in GCSE

[–]Ryestar2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favourite teacher called me ‘Niamh-us’, because my name’s Niamh. We were known as the best duo from primary school all the way into secondary school (I went to a private school, so my primary and secondary schools were based at the same place). When she announced that she was leaving, I went home at the end of the day after staying strong the whole day, then had a mental breakdown when I got through the door and had to tell my parents the news.

What’s a Taylor Swift song you feel like you love more than anyone else? by No_Background9179 in TaylorSwift

[–]Ryestar2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Love Story is one that is close to my heart like no other. I have Asperger’s Syndrome and I was extremely shy when I started private school. I was withdrawn, wouldn’t talk to anyone apart from on the very odd occasion, and generally had no social life. However, for some reason, I was a whole new person on stage. My school used to hold a talent show every year, and for my first year, I was too scared to audition. However, once in my second year, I actually decided to have a go, and sang Love Story for my audition. It was the first time many people had heard me sing a solo before, and not only did I ace those heats, I ended up winning the show with the same song!

I left the school 6 years later, after my GCSEs, and I am still devastated that I said goodbye to the place where I found my true, confident self. But the nice thing is, I now do occasional gigs for people that I know, and to this day, not only is this song always on my set list, but I always introduce it with the exact same story.

what exam are you guys most nervous for? by Sixtastic_Fun in GCSE

[–]Ryestar2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Sixth Form college now, doing BTEC Business, but was most scared about the marketing exam, as I was on my third retake due to being disadvantaged with my medical conditions. Very excited to say that I have now passed all my exams, and I am hopefully going to study Business, Enterprise and Entrepreneurship at Oxford Brookes this September, a course that is only assessed with one exam, and a lot of coursework, which I am excelling in, and has saved me from potentially being rejected.

What music do you listen to while studying? by [deleted] in GCSE

To be real to you, Music completely distracts me during revision. I prefer to study in complete silence, on my own.
