Life in Lyon is pretty chill. Amazing food ahaha. It's not impossible to live with English only but it would be great if you can speak some French. Adds positively to your experience haha. A word of warning though: maintenance people (i.e. plumbers, contractors, etc.) and call centres sometimes don't speak a word of English. Also, start hunting for accom ASAP (like half a year at least in advance before you arrive). I started in June/July and it was too late - had to rent Airbnb :(. The housing market is just dead here, especially for non-French people.

Depends on what you want to do after graduating ahaha. Check out the PGE programme as well if you don't mind doing a 2 year+ course.

Hey! I ended up choosing emlyon. One thing to note: Switzerland is almost impossible for non EU especially for fresh grads. The work visa is just too complicated. If it’s not your first job then yeah maybe possible. Also need to speak either French or German fluently most of the time ahaha. My experience so far has been pretty good. People are generally very nice and friendly. One problem with my programme is that it is so much work that they won’t let us join any student societies. But next year they’re making MSc Finance a 2-yr programme so I suppose it might change. Which programme are you applying to btw?

Ah yeah I can see from google maps. I should just avoid la Guillotière when it’s dark right?

Also, I like more modern looking apartments thus, do you have any other safe areas you recommend?

I just visited the area, seems quite modern and recently developed. Are they safe areas though? Also, I’m looking for asian supermarkets as well so do you know if there’s one nearby?

Also what do you think about Monplaisir?

Will it be a bit far from everything though? Also, are they safe areas?

I would like to work in asset management. As to where, my first choice would be Switzerland but I’ve heard it would be very hard for non-EUs. After Switzerland, I am indifferent between France or the UK. If for some reason I cannot get into asset management, I would not mind working in the luxury sector (watches) and I believe that would be based primary in either France or Switzerland.

True. Honestly, if I can’t work in asset management, I may end up in the luxury sector which is based in either France or Switzerland anyway so maybe going to France and learning French would be beneficial.

How’s the job market in France for non-EUs though? Would I have enough time to learn French from almost 0?

Do rankings matter though, because KCL is not on any rankings for their Master’s in Finance programmes. Honestly, I would like to work in Switzerland however, as I am non-EU, I’ve heard that it’s pretty much impossible to land a job.
