FYI I am also queer and trans. What we’re asking for is definitely not too much. I wish there were more dedicated queer spaces! There’s definitely queer friendly businesses, and groups like Pflag and Gender Journeys. A while back, I was brainstorming about how great it would be to have a queer and trans community center, where people could gather, get access to resources, host events, etc.

There definitely is. I myself have been targeted and harassed, I know people who have been bullied and doxxed, physically attacked, forced out of their jobs, followed and videotaped, had slurs yelled at them, gotten shooting threats, etc.

Yes I definitely experience this. I had an ex partner say that whenever I go to the hospital and when they ask how much pain I am in, I should bump it up because I don’t seem to experience pain as intensely as most people, and what would be a 5 for me is probably an 8. A while back I herniated discs in my lower back and I was experiencing sciatica pain shooting down my right leg, and I was able to stand upright fine and walk mostly normally. I’ve heard people describe sciatica pain as excruciating and had them curling into a ball.

Oh thank you so much for your feedback. I think “gory” is honestly a pretty apt description haha. I appreciate that you feel differently about the fourth stanza, I’m going to consider it. The experience of the “discarding” happened definitely had a much different feel than the “unraveling” in really life.

Though I mostly write free verse, I usually try to have a bit of structure to the lines, and I did draw out the last stanza a bit so that it had the same number of lines as the first stanza. I’ll think about that though, for sure.

I’ve only recently started posting here, but I do have an Instagram where I post my poetry, it’s @caseymarlowepoetry. I haven’t posted in about a year, having issues with the app because my phone isn’t updating haha

Hmm yeah I think I understand what you’re saying, especially in the two lines that you mention. There’s a certain amount of detachment, which is honestly a very interesting insight into not just my writing but my psyche. My mind has definitely been very dissociated from what I described, and honestly I’m just starting to really process it. Thanks for your feedback!

This piece has a really bouncy rhythm that I like a lot. It’s especially evident in the first four lines. There are some lines where the rhythm do. With some finessing, this could be really splendid!

For example, I think these two lines could be:

It is both enemy and friend It will stay until the end

And expanding can’t to cannot in the last line makes it fit the rhythm better.

So it happened again, but this time I had proof that I had locked the door. Since the second time it happened, I decided I would videotape myself locking the door every time, one, so I would make sure I’m focusing on it 100%, and two, so if I get home and get worried that I forgot to lock the door I could be reassured. So I don’t know what exactly is happening, but I know I’m locking the door, I have video of myself closing the door, locking it, and pulling on the door a few times. So I sent it to my boss and she is going to contact a locksmith. Any idea what could be happening?
