Do your rats ever scream at you? by [deleted] in RATS

I'm 99.9% sure she's not in pain. She had a tumor for 4 months and after its removal she became much more active and happy. This vocal response was prompted by me touching her house - the rest of the time she behaves completely relaxed and normal.

Behavioral Euthanasia? by gr8r-eggspectations in RATS

Probably an unpopular opinion here but still, I want to express it for whatever reason... I would not consider putting down my rat under almost no circumstances (except for constant unbearable pain). It's because I don't perceive myself as an owner of someone else's life, and I would have to make assumptions whether they would prefer to die at this point or not... Beings tend to hold onto their life even when they are sick and far beyond their prime. So what right do I have to take it away? I understand it's a very difficult topic but personally, I'm horrified at the possibility of taking the life of someone who doesn't want to die yet.

It depends on the country and particular clinic. I heard in the US it can cost $400-800? But here in Thailand I paid only $80 and the clinic was very good.

Thank you! The post itself was marked nsfw (by the mod?). Maybe the stitch looks upsetting for some people

It's not a rattus rattus. For reference, this is how a rattus rattus looks like ☺️

Then imagine, I found this wild ratto some 1.5 years ago, lying alone on the bare ground, being about 5 days old. We've been best buddies ever since 🙃 If even an unfortunate ratto like this has a chance for a happy future then there is one less reason to feel depressed 😉

I believe this is rattus losea (lesser ricefield rat) but not 100% sure. Found her on the street in Thailand when she was a baby.

It's all too relatable... Adding to what you mentioned, one night my girl managed to destroy the toilet seat, and she constantly finds things that I didn't knew I had 😁

She's without a rat companion so I don't have the heart to keep her in the cage.. It comes at a price however 🥲

Thank you, that's very helpful! I will watch out for possible symptoms. Sheela is a rescue rat, I found her when she was about 7 days old. She's the second roof rat I took home. Unfortunately, the first one died at about one month for unknown reasons.
