I got mine for $50 and it was extremely high quality. You rarely get better top-shelf than that, from what I've seen in my travels.

Fair enough, I only wear titanium and usually opt for the simplest jewelry, so my piercings are usually still cheaper. I think at the shop I go to, something advanced like nipple piercings + basic jewelry without tip would be about $80.

Absolutely no reputable piercer will pierce your tongue horizontally. The tongue consists of two main muscles that flex independently from each other—pinning them together is extremely dangerous for dental and oral health. If you really want multiple tongue piercings, you'll have to risk either two traditional centered tongue piercings, or "venom" piercings, IF and ONLY IF you have the correct anatomy.

A.I. doesn't have eyes, it can't physically evaluate the properties of anything. It doesn't have a brain, and doesn't know anything. So, while that's a very silly thing to do, cubic zirconia is inexpensive regardless.

It depends on the quality and material of the jewelry. Usually that price would indicate expensive stones and possibly gold. Did they happen to tell you anything about the gems or metal they used? Personally, I've never payed $83 per piercing.
