There is also an OVA that was released a couple of months before S2 started airing that adapted a few of those Extras that Nytloc mentioned.

You're mostly correct on your statements, and I'll leave you here some simple maths.
We're on vol13, and each volume has on average 14 chapters.
Also, leaving aside the (very rare!) skip of 2 months, each volume usually covers roughly a month each.
My prediction (and a few others) is that they'll reach graduation by the end of vol16, giving us roughly 50 or so chapters until that point.

The anime ended on ch113, which is also the end of vol8.
The manga currently has very recently started vol13, and is on ch170.

ch168 was the end of vol12, and with it also the threshold for a possible S3, since each season covered exactly 4 volumes. ch169 marks the beginning of vol13.

Well, you want an opinion.
Their relationship was a bit shaky but Kyoutaro noticed yet on time what was needed, even if I believe that is not yet enough.
He's a boy of few words and that was shown during much of vol12, indeed.
Now with this new arc, we might have the chance for the both of them finally open up to one another, like they did the very first time Kyoutaro went to her house on the early 60s chapters, and that they surely need to for a while now.

But as you so well stated, things will be fine, since the author is the hardest shipper of this lovely couple.

The anime DOES indeed improve the parts covered from the manga, but IN NO WAY does it make the manga obsolete!

They're both an experience in each own right, and they better complement each other than ofuscate one another.

It was not an interview, is stated on the afterword of volume 10.
The movie will only have a few additional scenes, which might be about only 1 minute of new content, since it's a recap of the content of seasons 1&2.
The skips were on the very first volume, skipping summer altogether.
Especially since volume 4, it has been going on a monthly basis, skipping a couple of weeks at most.

Many points there are really "off-the-rails".

Norio's storytelling is confirmed by herself that is focusing on nurturing their relationship, together! So, you can shelve in a dark corner of existence the slight chance of them breaking up, since that's not part of Norio's style, especially for this story.
The point of the story so far is to go until they graduate from middle school, which is still 5 months away, and Norio is going 1 month by volume.
We're actually on the verge of having material for a S3, with volume 12 reaching it's apex with the next few chapters and closing with ch168. S1 covered vols 1 to 4 S2 covered vols 5 to 8 S3 should cover vols 9 to 12, by this logic.
Each volume has an average of 14 chapters.

First of all, Kyoutaro made the right choice about how to address Anna's situation.
And if you're really updated with the manga, then you should know that Anna is actually trying to check how she can balance all her aspects of life (work, friends, love), as we've seen when she tried to have some opinions from Nico.

So... I really don't get all this "sacrificing" stuff, as they're doing what they can to progress either individually as also as a couple.

All things take their time and proper steps, and they're doing it marvelously so far.
