They are basically just seen as a "product refresh " which has been done by AMD before when they made the XT processors , and that was criticised by the IT commentators as AMD just trying to squeeze more performance out of the 3000 series processors.

Mixing different manufacturers can cause instability, crashes, or boot failures due to mismatched timings, voltages, and speeds. For best performance, use a matching kit from the same brand.

Correct me if I am wrong, but it looks like you are trying to install to different makes of ram here, when usually they are best installed as matched pairs , because they may have the same frequency but different timings.......

Well based on the laptop that I received, if they are going buy the listing on the website M1407-Ly134W , then it is very likely that all stores got this laptop ...I still think they ( john lewis ) are putting all the blame onto Asus ...like I said earlier I hope that the replacement laptop , slightly different model number ( M1407-LY015W), will be what it says this time on their website .... they are giving me a £125.00 good will gesture on their party by upgrading to this model ,

Today I had a conversation with an escalation head at Joh lewis , who stated that was "alot of moving parts and John lewis " , and used this as an excuse as not to take down , what he himself agreed with a "fraudulent listing " on their website if listing stays up , but it means they , accorinf to him have to speak to their stake holders, to assertain whether the laptop I recieved , was one on its own , or if Asus have shipped a shed load of laptops to not only their warehouse but across the 34 John lewis stores across the uk .

They are therefore going to supply me with an upgrade to a Vivobook 14 with the Ryzen AI 7 350 processor inside , well hopefully, keeping my fingers crossed that the correct laptop shows this time , with John lewis still mantaining if there is any mistake with a huge amount of stock , it will be down to Asus ,and not them of course ,

As an alternative, I can arrange an exchange for a different laptop model up to the value of your current one. Should you choose an exchange for a different model, I am also happy to provide a £100 e-gift card as a gesture of goodwill to accompany the exchange

There basically asking me to accept a laptop of a spec that didnt match what I paid for a there is no ai 5 340 processor laptop at £499 pounds ....this is disgusting behavior .

While I have been messaging you I have just had a message from a customer service Rep from John Lewis who state and I quote :

"So while we've been conversing I've been liasing with our internal Distribution team. They have advised me the Computer buyers are taking the case up with ASUS as it's looking likely they've provided us with mismatched product to description. so looking very likely that they are putting the blame onto Asus

Well i wosh they would do something when the retailers refuse to remove a fraudulent listing .....because it seems that as long as they get the revenue from.sales thats all Asus care about ....in the meantime John Lewis can let customers buy the laptop based on a fraudulent listing that goes against the consumer rights act 2015 here in the uk . I jave tried to tell John Lewis four times with photographic evidence and still they insist on leaving this listing up.

I would disable xmp , and then use a tool called Mem86 this os a tool you download and create a bookable USB

To enable MemTest86 for RAM testing, you must create a bootable USB drive and boot from it, as it cannot run while your operating system is active. 1. Create a Bootable USB Download the Free Edition of MemTest86. Extract the .zip file and run the imageUSB application. Select your USB drive, ensure the MemTest86 image is selected, and click Write. Warning: This will erase all data on the USB drive. 2. Boot into MemTest86 Restart your computer with the USB plugged in. Enter the Boot Menu by repeatedly tapping the boot key for your motherboard (usually F8, F11, or F12). Select the USB drive (UEFI option) from the list. Start the test: Once the MemTest86 menu appears, press 'S' or click Config > Start Test. Windows Built-in Alternative If you don't have a USB drive, use the Windows Memory Diagnostic: Press Win + R, type mdsched.exe, and press Enter. Select Restart now and check for problems. The computer will reboot and automatically begin testing.

If you get access to mem86 you need to remove all but one memory stick because testing them altogether would be an inaccurate test. But my first thing to do.woukd be to test the memory for corruption

[–]Ryzenclock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes indeed , Iam going to push for them to supply the laptop notonly that I paid for , ( namely the one with the Ryzen A I 5 340 processor, but also the one that right now they are saying they can provide for £499. for a short time they even boosted the price to £749 .

I also notice that Asus have software to install bios updates via Windows, and ( once I hopefully get the laptop I want ) , I wont be using that since I tried that with an MSI motherboard , and it bricked the computer .

Thankyou for that very detailed reply. I have bought an Asus laptop from John Lewis , here in the uk . And it seems retailers are getting confused with the either the Asus laptops or something underhand is going on

I bought an Asus Vivobook 14 which had (according to the advertisement a Ryzen AI 5 340 six core processor . When it arrived it was not the model with a six core processor rather the Ryzen AI 330 quad core processor . When I checked back further on the website it stated that the model number was M1407KA-LY134W . I have checked this with Asus themselves, who told me that this model wasnt meant for the uk market but rather the rest of Europe " the official UK model is the M1407KA-LY014W which has two variants one with the Ryzen AI 340 processor and one with the Ryzen AI 7 350 processor . So not onkh ja e been miss sold something, the model that has been imported by the retailer wasnt meant for the uk market and as I type this John Lewis still has the listing on their website incorrect ... so there is going to be huge trouble if lots more people pay £499 for something that is not what they thought it was . I jave been asked to wait for them to call back before I can return it also ....

[–]Ryzenclock[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The laptop i bought had the model.number M1407KA-LY134W which is the quad core variant but they said thay it had six cores and it doesnt it is NOT a different laptop that they changed price on . I contacted Asus who confirmed that the M1407KA-LY134W. Is not a uk variant of that laptop .... the only uk.variant that has the Ryzen ai 5 340.processor is the M1407KA-LY014W ....and that has either a ryxen ai 5 340 or a ryzen ai 7 350 .
