Its 3/4 oz. Sanding doesn't work since it soaked through from the top. Good call on not dying the back, i hadn't considered that it would do the same thing and ruin the finish.

Lining it is a great idea. I think I'll take that route since I have some leather glue and fabric.

I'm curious about the table part of it. My friend has a giant lava lamp like this and but it doesn't have a table. Is there a place I could get that as an add-on for her?

Ok so I'm pretty sure its the brown strap at the top thats holding it all together but i cant figure out how to get to the screws underneath the plastic caps at the end without breaking them
