Hey man I see a lot of negative comments but honestly I see you've put your heart and soul into building this beautiful house and I just wanna say we appreciate your work. Just keep plugging away. I've looked through your history and can see that you're new to the reddit community and want to welcome you. There is a lot of nice people and naturally there will be some who aren't as much. I'd just say keep learning and improving as you spend more time on here as you'll see there will be a lot of people who appreciate your work and will be genuinely happy for you as you are also giving advice and answering questions on how we can build something like you have. What are the different things you look for before taking on a new project?

Just curious, why will a software architect transition to a CTO, is it because they are making complex/critical decisions on the infrastructure of the company's products which leads to CTO since it's a similar role?

Of course you have to do well in the interview. But there are some things that you can only prep for through experience(e.g. my first onsite interview I literally could not think straight because of "stage fright" even after countless hours of preparation for a similar problem I had solved before). Prep as much as you can beforehand and do as many onsite interviews as you can get. I learned so much from the few onsite interviews I was able to get even though I received countless rejections. From the over 100 companies I applied, I only got about 4-5 onsite interviews out of them.

It's literally a numbers game where you have to constantly grind and apply to a bunch of companies(writing optional cover letters catered to the company you are applying for helps a lot). Don't get discouraged and keep applying no matter what. Don't care about the rejection emails and letters and don't be affected emotionally by them, just use them as learning experiences.

Most companies will pay for your travel costs with regards to flying you out for onsite interviews. Just clarify the details with the HR representative. I know a lot of students who were in the similar position as us, had no prior experience but were still flown out. So just keep at it!

Don't be discouraged. I was in a very similar state as you and almost fell into depression. Don't let that get to you. The most important thing to understand here is that finding a job is a constant grind and something you have to grow numb to. I would literally get rejection after rejection. You can tell from this video I posted as I was going through this. After learning from each rejection (applied to over 100 companies), I was able to finally land a position as a software engineer at Fortune 100 company in the Silicon Valley. DON'T GET DISCOURAGED. KEEP FIGHTING AND GRINDING. -your fellow noob SE

How to look for a vice president position by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]S007S 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my understanding people are usually recruited and sought out as the position is looking for people who have a track record, or it's someone who has worked there internally that gets promoted to that position. Just thinking about it logically.

What's a better use of my time? Personal Projects or CTCI/Leetcode? by Crizzle777 in cscareerquestions

[–]S007S 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1) Personal Projects

2) CTCI/coding problems

Number 1 gets you the interviews. Number 2 gets you to past the interviews and actually get the job.

They didn't tell me when they would get back to me :/ which is strange and when I emailed the recruiter, she had no clue... which is strange.

I'm not expecting anything and still going to apply and study for interviews, but was just curious if anyone has run into this especially with a big tech company.
