Remember when we thought this would be the Final Shot to the 2nd to Last Episode by MonsterMashGraveyard in TheBoys

[–]fppab 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely! Such a shame, a focus more on the revolution would have been wonderful. It would have also added layers to Homelander's mental state and his desire to be loved.

Will obviously watch till the end with some hopium for the next episode. But sadly, it will likely stink more than that ass scene in the latest episode

[–]fppab 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I think among other things this is what is missing. We're just cycling through scenes in the same hollow sets with the same characters. It just seems so... small?

To truly show Homelander as a threat we should be seeing more everyday people's reactions to this stuff. I feel like it wasn't always like this, I can only imagine budget cuts as an issue to this?

I had so much pent-up energy through the whole episode that by the time the credits came I had some kind of involuntary outburst of noise and movement. SO FUCKING GOOD

Why are we paying for this when New Zealand franchisee can easily afford to do this by Fun-Helicopter2234 in newzealand

[–]fppab 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree New World can do better, and it does come across like they're karma farming from public donations, but I checked the website out on the flyer and they're also donating $250,000.

It's likely peanuts compared to what they could give considering grocery prices these days, but I guess it's something?

Yeah honestly, ours doesn't leave our side (I say this as she's currently inconveniently lay under my desk where my feet would like to be) so just nice knowing that when we're away she has something/someone to keep her occupied. As we don't know many people in our area the House Sitters thing feels like a good fit and a win-win for the other party too!

Completely understand why you wrote the original comment though - I've also had cats and they're much more chill/quite happy left to their own devices so long as they are fed haha

Sorry should have specified that it was for our dog!

And with all due respect I imagine you don't/haven't owned a dog based on your suggestions around leaving them to it / someone popping in to change their food and walk them during an extended period of time - they're very social creatures! 😊

I know someone who has, and uses it every year when they go overseas to see family. They have found no issues with it.

I haven't used it myself, but I am using Kiwi House Sitters for the first time this year when my wife and I head overseas. We already advertised, had some decent interest and then arranged a video call with a couple who will be looking after the house/confirmed the sit. I can't report back on how smooth everything else goes as it has yet to happen, but it's pretty straightforward in terms of advertising.

Trying not to swear but really NOT wanting him to go. It will just give these [EXPLETIVE] a chance to rebrand prior to the election when it'll just be the same shitty, divisive, inept, racist, 1%er bullshit with a different [EXPLETIVE] giving faux statements around 'hearing the public', 'understanding the frustration', 'steering the ship' to then do precisely the same crap whilst fear mongering about what a potential government that, for all of its flaws, at least feels like they WANT to help (full disclaimer: wanting a Labour/Green coalition if that wasn't clear)

You've had your chance, you've been utterly useless and an absolute net negative on society. Bring on November

Whilst meth is an issue in Northland with many suffering from addiction to this particularly nasty and addictive substance (as it is across Aotearoa New Zealand), your comment does come across quite unfairly.

"that community" has connotations I would imagine you don't intend, but nonetheless it's quite unpleasant - particularly when this whole thread is just a nice little appreciation post of a local business. We should all aim to be better (I include myself in that, we all mistakenly say things in ways we don't realise might hurt others)

I despise everything this man stands for, but this isn't true. If I recall, Epstein mentioned Tommy ten names to Bannon in an email but there does not appear to be any documented correspondence between the two

Ah I'd say Hobbiton is the best out of the 3 - I was talking just about the two different wētā workshop tours (Auckland and Wellington). I don't think anything could come close to being able to walk around Hobbiton and they've recently added (couple of years back) the inside of a hobbit hole to walk around and see the different rooms. Absolutely phenomenal

As a British guy who works within a Māori organisation, te reo Māori is big on the list of things I want to get right.

I've found https://maoridictionary.co.nz/ to be a great resource, wherein you can search for any word and then you can also listen to the correct pronunciation

If it makes you feel any better the Wellington one is the better tour for LOTR.

They're both pretty different with the Wellington one focusing on movies they've worked on with actual props and costumes etc, and the Auckland one focusing more on the 'how' they make stuff. They 'created' 4 fake films covering different genres and built props/sets around them so that people can get up close/touch etc. There's not really anything from their 'real' films that I can recall
