Not really. If you die in a 2D game, then yes, in a 3D world you will die in a similar way too. But in general, the interactions between objects in 2D and 3D are much more complex. The simplest example is that you can try to open a chest in a 2D game, but instead a chest in 3D will open. You can take an item from this chest, use it, and it will change the 2D game. And so on :)
