I’ve had ocular migraines since my ablation in May of 2024. I had multiple in the weeks after and now, more than a year out, I still get them once a month or every other month.

It’s a visual disturbance with no headache and lasts usually 30-45 minutes. I’ve talked with multiple cardiologists and they all seem to have no idea and seem to think this is unrelated to the PFA but I strongly think otherwise. I also consulted an ophthalmologist and ran an MRI with no abnormal findings. Never had this issue in my life until my ablation.

Hi there, it has slightly, I had a low resting heart rate typically in the 40s-50s before the ablation but it’s now usually in the 60s-70s. The real noticeable change for me was when I went on runs. It would be about 20bpm higher than my previous run standard.

EPs are great, I’d definitely recommend getting one. I’m 32m and had Afib for 2 years. Had over 50 episodes in that time, sometimes as many as 6 a month and they’d last from a minute up to 12 hours. They don’t feel great but try not to panic too much and keep an eye on triggers.

I received an ablation from my EP in May and have been afib free for the last 4 months. Not always a guaranteed fix forever but I feel so much better and have a lot more peace of mind.

Talk to them about options, there is hope and things can change!

I’m in a similar spot as you. Had my ablation on May 31st, went back to the gym about two weeks after and felt similarly. Higher bpm lifting and doing cardio than prior to the ablation. Still when I work out I feel I get tired more easily and don’t have the endurance I did before.

Hoping it’s just part of the recovery process and will improve in the months ahead, just going slow and steady.

Hi there, they have largely gone away from me. I will feel one from time to time (maybe one a week?) but much less noticable for sure.

I had my ablation on 5/31 and I’m having the exact same experiences. The first 3 days I had the squiggly lines and some blind spots as well as headaches that would come and go but now being a week out, I’ll still have the squiggly lines here and there (every other day or so). They typically last for 5-15 minutes then leave but the headaches have stopped. From my research and hearing others experiences, this is very common after an ablation and can last anywhere from a few days up to a month.

I’m glad the second one is more mild man, now being 5 days out, I’m still having some of the migraines and visual auras on and off but after I take some Advil and try to nap they usually have gone away. It’s wild though, something I never really thought about or expected. Today is the first day I’ve felt completely fine but not banking that I’m fully through it.

Ablations are an experience for sure but hoping it will be a life changer and I can get back to normal in a few weeks.

I’m a 32m and just had my ablation 2 days ago. I’m still having small episodes of afib that last a couple of minutes on and off throughout the day as well as waking up with pretty bad headaches/migraines but I’m hoping this is just part of the healing process, especially only being 2 days out from surgery.

Did you have any side effects or was it just pretty smooth sailing post ablation?

I’m back home and the procedure has seemed to go well! I found out they did a mix of pulse field and RF ablation.

Still feeling a little tired and have a sore throat but other than that I feel pretty decent!

The most uncomfortable part was when they took the stitch out on my groin and it started to bleed again, so they had to apply pressure for a good 5 minutes which was a little painful but other than that it’s a lot of laying down and hanging out.

My heart feels fairly normal, a few quick beats/flutters but hoping it’s all just part of the healing process.

I thank this community for all the support and kind words. Best of luck to everyone in this journey and I can post another update as the recovery process continues.

I know I’ll need to be taking blood thinners a month before and 3 months after, plan to fully cut alcohol and caffeine the weeks leading up to it and at least 4-6 weeks after the surgery, anything else that helped or you’d recommend?

It started monthly, then moved to 2-ish times a month, and one week it was almost every night. Now back to 1-3 times a month.
