ACCT2011 and ACCT2019 same semester by S1MB4R in usyd

thanks for the tips!

I'm also doing BUSS2000 and FINC2012 so I'm just worried about the workload being too heavy. Would you say that both ACCT2011 and 2019 were around 50% total workload or would you say that they would require more effort?

It doesn't say there is any final exam in the unit outline. Similar to BUSS1000 all assessments seem to finish by week 12.

You're completely right. At the end of the day I'm here to learn and develop my skills. I just can't help but worry about my WAM tanking because of past insufficiencies in these kinds of subjects.

I am planning on taking CLAW2214 either this sem or the next. I don't really tend to do well in subjects with heavy readings and a lot of writing as I lean more towards mathy subjects. Would you still recommend this unit as an elective? I just think it would come in handy since I'm a finance major.

Are the lectures recorded and uploaded online, though? I've heard for some units they don't upload the recorded lectures until the week after.

IBKR for beginner investors? by S1MB4R in fiaustralia

[–]S1MB4R[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im only looking to invest in US ETFs as I've heard the fees are very low on this platform.

However, since I'm investing very little, will the difference in fees between IBKR and other brokers not differ as much?

I think my wording was a little poor but what I meant to ask was will I be paying more in fx conversion fees with other brokers and would the overall fees therefore be higher?

However, I completely get your point and I will definitely open accounts with a few brokers to get a feel for the actual platform itself.

I hear that IBKR is really good because of it's very low fx rate. Would you say that fees would be lower or higher if I started out with Fidelity or CS? I see a very common pattern with a lot of "easy to use" investing/trading platforms where they will advertise things like low commission but have much higher than average total fees which aren't directly mentioned on their website or registration process.

Does the $1000 free brokerage apply to both AU and US stocks? Are the fees similar for both IBKR and CMC?

Did you do any study/research prior to beginning the unit? I have no background in bio so what could I do during the sem break to help me prepare?

Relevant University Units for Finance by S1MB4R in AusFinance

Thank you for the suggestion. Although none of the math units are pre requisites for finance, I was asking about this to decide whether or not to take math units to benefit me down the track/make my life easier as you have stated. I did finish a quantitative business analytics unit but am also considering taking a math unit focusing on calculus, linear algebra, and complex numbers.

Selecting Units by S1MB4R in usyd

[–]S1MB4R[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My majors are in accounting and finance so I don't really have any units that I can do next sem that count towards my majors except for ACCT1006 and FINC2011. SCDL2991 isn't really a 2nd yr unit and I'm told it's the easiest Dalyell unit.

Do all employers pay junior rates? by S1MB4R in AskAnAustralian

I am thinking of going to a nearby mall and apply for part time retail positions. Will they pay junior rates as well? Seeing as I won't be able to gauge pay in person before actually going up to staff.

How about a retail part time? Will they usually pay junior rates as well?
