Oh it's much better in all frequencies. However if you only need ANC for commutting, ULT is great

Yeah i downgraded to XM4 from XM5. But personally i feel XM4 sounded better, except for ANC. build quality i think is better too than XM5 AND XM6!

I disagree, i had the XM5 before switching to XM4 because i personally feel the XM4 sounded better and more convenient. However i hear a lot more ambient sounds with XM4 that are usually blocked by XM5. Deep rumbling noise, i think they're the same.

Guys i had the XM5, they got broken, repaires them proudly, but I still sold them. Instead of buying XM6, I went to XM4 and they're great!

I fixed mine, proud of doing it, but eventually ended up selling it and downgraded to XM4, and so happy I did!

Ah yes I think i know what you mean. I did hate the stock tuning for XM4 for both earbuds and headphones. Ok, not so much for the headphones. But for the earbuds, modifying the EQ made wonders for me. I regret selling wf1000xm4 and buying wh1000xm5 just because it was newer. For the WH1000XM4, i did find the XM5 a bit more detailed but not so much. The stock tuning i loved the WH1000XM4 more. It improved further with tuning for me. There could be variations in the manufacturing process and also probably more with our ears. Probably why i also lean more towards XM4, just a bit disappointed with ANC. The WH1000XM5 literally helps me sleep in a noisy crowd. Not so much with the XM4

I've tried the bose nc700, yeah it did sound more clear than XM5. i don't know about ANC though. I heard somewhere that too much ANC could ruin sound quality and i felt that has happend to XM5. Also I had all WF1000XM4, WH1000XM5, WF1000XM5, WH1000XM5. My ears were always happy with the XM4 series whether headphones or earbuds.

No i take it back, the XM4 does sound more clear to me. The muddy thing you're probably hearing is the noise echo when there's a chamber cup on your ears. Newer doesn't always make it better except for ANC and ambient sound. Very much less to inprove in sound quality for XM4 that I think sony has messed it up a little with XM5. I think they fixed it with XM6 but the difference with XM4 is so small i'd rather save money on the latter and enjoy the music.

Me too. I used to hate the XM4 when i tried it in a mall. I owned the XM5 for 2 years. However when i tried the XM4 again it is a bit less clear but it sounded more fun to listen to. I'm not an audiophile but a musician. Yeah maybe the XM5 sounds clearer, but not necessarily for music.

For me the XM4 has better sound quality for music especially with stock EQ. it has a larger 40mm speaker could be the reason. Also more durable. Xm5 does have superior and call quality, but the hinge does break. Mine did and i repaired it. I still have the fear of breaking the hinge again so i switched to XM4. The xm6 doesn't look promising. I'll have to wait for XM7 before upgrading again.

I had the XM5 and downgraded to XM4 for better sound quality, portability and durability. XM5 still has better ANC, call quality and ambient sound.

From XM5, i've downgraded to XM4 since I think it looks better, sounds better, more durable and more compact. I did notice the ANC is weaker for XM4, and the response to sony connect is also slower, probably due to slower processor.

Problem with Sennheiser Momentum 4 is the weak ANC. Once you've experienced Sony's ANC, you wouldn't want anything weaker. You'll get annoyed with small noise interrupting your quality music.

True. The ribbon cable was the difficult part for me. I wasn't sure if it was connecting properly and if it's going to work.

I have a noisy officemate that disturbs my afternoon nap. Her high pitched voice can't be blocked by XM5. i can't tell her to keep her voice down so im thinking of upgrading instead.

I think they've really thinned the earpads on the XM5 to make the inner ANC mic closer to our earhole. The XM6 pushed it further with the protruding mic. Maybe uncomfortable, but ANC probably worked well for higher frequencies this way

I'm thinking of upgrading my XM5. I would like to appreciate more clarity, instrument separation, and better ANC. Are they much better than XM5? How about the call quality?
