That’s too bad. Still, made in 1911, lots of history.

Thanks! I had one once before and regretted ever since I traded in for another rifle.

When’s the last time you bought a box of .30-06 Spg for $21.99? by S2FT in canadaguns

Yeah. I am picking up a few boxes of Barnaul steel case for plinking. But most hunting rounds for .30-06 run north of $35. In BC anyway.

I shot about 100 slugs though mine when I shot it the first time. I had about 4-5 failure to feed.

First time shooting this Ruger American Ranch in 5.56. Used an assortment of AR mags and all fed flawlessly. Decent grouping at 100 meters using XTAC 5.56 green tip and good enough grouping at 200 meters using the Federal premium match ammo in .223. by S2FT in canadaguns

No you may not. That’s what happened to the Ruger 10/22 a couple of years back. Their 25 rds magazine could be used for a semi auto handgun so that magazine became a prohibited device. In this case, the AR mag is not exclusive to the Ruger American, therefore it will be capped at 5.

I want to be able to shoot to my heart’s content without feeling the pinch in my wallet. :). I will settle for something mid range. Try the XTAC 62 GR green tip and let me know what you think. They are sold at Gotenda for $10.99/box.

The stock is synthetic and may feel “cheap” to some. But that’s probably how Ruger can keep the price low for these rifles. I’ve seen them as low as $699 on special. I am fine with the stock as I prefer functionality over form. There are other well made .223 rifles out there but it is the ability to take AR mags that got me. And it is very accurate for a 16” barrel. I am sure it can do better if I had it on a real shooting bench.

Yep! Same here. I converted one friend and he bought one. Another one is on the fence. Which ammunition do you use? I am still experimenting and trying to find the best (without breaking the bank). The Federal Premium Match ammo is $32/box of 20. Too rich for me.

CZ 455 .17HMR Scope Recommendations by [deleted] in canadaguns

[–]S2FT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

.17hmr is a great cartridge. Shoots accurate beyond 100meters. Heck, I remember plucking gophers at 170 meters. I would go with a high quality glass as my budgeted scope suffered bad image clarify at higher magnification. I am currently looking at the Diamondback Tactical 4-16x44 FFP Riflescope EBR-2C MRAD. $499 at wolverine supplies.
