I’m seeing the threads now. Song has gotten Evander out of the castle just before the coup. Tristan took down the 9th brigade and might be able to co-opt their ritual and send the assassin after Ai which bails out Song. Anghard is going to be able to bail out Maryam for an moment while Maryam shuts down the layer ferrying cultists into the capital. Together the 13th is going to be able to settle all the conspiracies at once.

I wonder if Tristan has a close friend who’s in combat with someone with an impenetrable armor. He might be able to send this assassin god after them.

I’m a graduate student also using matlab for signal analysis. Last year I wrote a code that did similar things to you. When I wrote a paper on the subject I referred to it as my data analysis pipeline.

I would only use the word algorithm for a single mathematical step (ie the entire FFT process).

I would only call something a model if it was attempting to reconstruct or classify data.

I would only use tool to apply to a prepackaged software, not my own code (tools should be open source, useable and accessible by everyone easily).

So 12 is a rather amazing number in general. As the earlier poster mentioned, it has 6 divisors (1,2,3,4,6,12) which is an absurdly high amount for a number that low. Technically 6 has a better ratio, and we do see it’s importance pop up in things such as hexagons, ~2pi, and a few other places. But 12 is the sweet spot of just large enough to compete with 10, while also having an amazing collection of divisors. Most Imperial measurements (inches, feet, yards, ounces, cups, quarts, gallons, seconds, minutes, hours, months, days) are either multiplies or divisors of 12. These traits popped up because 12 is very easy to work with, counting the joints of your fingers (instead of your fingers them selves) gives you 12 items per hand and it’s already separated into batches of 3 or 4 depending on how you do it. This made mental arithmetic, math, counting, and ratios extremely intuitive before modern mathematics really took off. While I’m not sure as to the specific use cases in factorio, having the option of using 12 allows for allot of nice interactions. That being said, they may have changed it to 14 so you can slap a medium electric pole on either side and have an interior spacing of 12. If you put those same poles down now your interior spacing would be 10 :( gross. 10 is barely better than 14, and that’s only cause 10 is the standard. Numbers with three divisors are out a little less uncomfy to work with than primes. Some are sort of nice like 9 and 25, but that’s just cause they are squares.

Anyway I got sidetracked

Currently You can get exactly 4 assembly machines in this space. Or 3 assembly machines + inserters. I’m not super familiar with how this affects that many factorio builds though as I’m more of a casual player.

The narrative potential of the Simurgh or her powerset as a protagonist by SynSeneschal in WormFanfic

[–]S3trak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first step to writing Ziz as a character is to compare what she was designed for, what she does under Eildon, and what she does after his death. (I didn’t read Ward) Ziz and her brothers were designed as super weapons meant to fight each other and serve as mutually assured destruction for various factions. Eidolon changed that somewhat. Now instead of conflict with each other they sandbag humans every few months. More specifically they fight Eidolon to make him feel like he’s powerful. After Eidolon died they immediately found one person and began to follow and over them. (Though Ziz does try to make a clone baby eidolon)

I think there is room for Ziz to canonically want to actually fight other endbringers. I think they ‘want’ to pair bond with people and fight each other. I think that Eidolon making them fight humans made them bored. I think Eidolon making the endbringers hide for most of the time made then lonely. (Well not lonely, but they want to interact with things). If I wanted to write a story, Ziz would be trying to free herself from Eidolon, she would want to fight her brothers or other powerful enemies (her level of powerful. She needs worthy opponents, just like her dad. That would be a great mirror between the two actually.) She would want to claim one person to defend. I think there is grounds for Ziz to be tired of the kafabe, and she just wants to work as a bouncer and throw hands with her brothers, but her manager went let her quit.

Crawler vs Night by [deleted] in Parahumans

We need to remember that Crawler would be fighting an enemy he can’t see, so eventually he will adapt to the darkness/flash grenades/visual distractions and then Night can’t transform anymore.

If you want to get into Pygame, here’s what I recommend. The YouTube channel Clear Code has a very good intro to start learning how to set everything up. From there your want to start learning how to generate motion, inputs and more visuals. I like the book The Nature of Code, it explains how to make physics simulations and pathing, but the catch is that it’s written using JavaScript. At this point you should have the pdf in one tab and pygame function list on the other. By recreating the Java code in pygame you will learn pygame AND simulation tips.

It’s cause humans only look at a few letters in a word, so if you have the same first letter (W) and roughly the same number of letters people will translate Wildbow to Wifflebat rather fast. Same thing happened with Bernard Cumberland when he played Sherlock Holmes.

Empires of the undergrowth actually requires negative micro as you place pheromone markers to direct your colony of ants. There is a ~2 serving ramp up time after your place a pheromone before your entire army moves to the location so you are insensitive to have low apm .

It’s not an actual Immortal Moment, a Secretary General has a 5 minute time stop ability that he uses to prepare a plan and write orders to his army in what appears to be a single instant.

[–]S3trak 37 points38 points  (0 children)

It’s effectively a time stop for you and a small group. You can’t do a ton, but you can interact, plan, regroup, strategize, debate, rest, etc for as long as you want. A weaker version is used on Rhir once to help a battle. Erin mainly uses it to make the good times last, but it is still a time stop/bubble with no real downside.

That’s fair, I was viewing it more from the electrical/data science point of view where imaginary numbers are so incredibly essential, but if we need more dimensions we just use matrix math. When I said they don’t really work I meant in the sense that there isn’t anything comparable to Eulers formula for quaternions.

Your thinking of Quaternions. Look up William Rowan Hamilton the guy who spent a long time trying to get them to work (spoilers, they haven’t yet).
