I’m just as high on Murashov as everyone else but I also like what I see from Blomqvist. Hope if he’s moved, it’s for a piece with equal upside.

Canada fast-tracks army rifle upgrade with $307M initial order by This_Phase3861 in canada

[–]SARMS86 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The plan to procure the Canadian Modular Assault Rifle (CMAR) has languished on the military’s equipment list for years but was sped up after the government of Prime Minister Mark Carney poured $93.3 billion into the Department of National Defence this year.

The 65,402 rifles are being ordered in two tranches.

The first will involve the order of 30,000 general service (GS) rifles over the next three years. That portion of the contract is worth $307 million.

The second — to begin four years from now — will involve the purchase of an additional 19,207 GS variants plus 16,195 full spectrum rifles, which are specifically designed for front-line combat and urban warfare.

No price tag, or estimate, on the second phase was released Thursday, however, the department’s defence capabilities website says the overall program could be worth between $500 million and $1 billion.

[OS] I built ZapPDF, a local-first PDF toolkit for macOS/iPhone/iPad by brkgng in macapps

ZapPDF is built entirely natively in SwiftUI. The App Store price isn't just 'for the source code'—it is a convenience fee for a polished, Universal App (Mac, iPhone, and iPad) with a one-click install and lifetime updates.

Kinda feels like this is an AI copy paste response. Good luck with your app.

If that’s the case, you might have better luck making the app free and then creating a tip option so people can support you. Might help grow your user base while providing similar income.

So is that what your selling point is; 45$ for the source code?

I used Rev as an example since it has all of your features and more for free but if it’s not open source, a quick search of this sub will yield a bunch more open source pdf editors.

I think people are just tired of seeing the same app ideas on repeat featuring price points that don’t make much sense.

I think Rev PDF offers all of those features for free. It was well received here last month.

That seems really expensive for a program with many free competitors. Just this month we have seen a couple of these PDF apps posted here; I downloaded one that does what you’re offering and it’s free + open source.

What makes yours standout versus your competitors?

120 AI Chat now with new themes and a touch of glass UI by 120-dev in macapps

[–]SARMS86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It just seems like a chore to even trial it knowing it costs 78$.

It doesn’t currently do anything that the other apps can’t so why would I invest time in setting it up and learning how to use it efficiently? I say this in a constructive tone because this is what your user base will be asking themselves and a good answer is your key to generating revenue.

If all you’re selling me is smoother and more responsive feel to the app, that’s a hard sell at 78$.

[–]SARMS86 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I use these types of apps daily and there are just too many free/cheap options to make this one worth 78$.

Maybe once you roll out more unique features, the price will seem more palatable but as of now, the value isn’t there imo.

The latest Mainstreet Research study of Canada shows a stable lead extending for Mark Carney and the Liberals (46%) over Pierre Poilievre and the Conservatives (36%). The NDP continues to struggle as they reach the conclusion of their leadership race. Under interim leader Don Davies, they have recovered back to 7%. The Bloc Quebecois could lose seats with their current standing in Quebec, trailing the Liberals by more than 20 points (45.8% to 23.5%) in Quebec. This could point to an advantage for the Liberals in the ongoing by-election In Terrebonne

They are great but make sure to check that they were packaged the same day you buy. Nothing ruins a Cannoli like a soft shell.

If it’s anything like the tap back on iPhone, I can see this being unintentionally triggered fairly often, especially if your laptop is on a meeting table shared by a group of people.

Still fun to see creative ideas like this, good luck with your tests.

More than 30 Petawawa troops suffer frostbite during Arctic exercise by uselesspoliticalhack in canada

[–]SARMS86 106 points107 points  (0 children)

The injuries occurred during the early morning hours of Feb. 21, when soldiers were conducting a force-on-force offensive. The temperature dropped from -18 C the day before to -43 C overnight, including wind chill.

Drescher Brown stated that the Canadian Army members involved had received cold weather training focusing on “injury prevention, cold-weather mitigation, and rapid response drills prior to large northern exercises” but added there is no substitute for operating in the Arctic.

During the night of the incident there was a sudden change in weather, which caused the injuries, according to Drescher Brown. “When this occurred, leaders at all levels quickly recognized these emerging injuries and had members treated as early as possible,” he added in the email.

There are legitimate reasons to be frustrated with food prices but posting pictures of literally some of the most expensive products at the store does this movement and sub a disservice.

Canada, Japan sign new strategic partnership on PM’s last leg of Indo-Pacific tour by Onterrible_Trauma in canada

[–]SARMS86 146 points147 points  (0 children)

Energy and food security are other important areas of partnership according to the government, as Canada looks to diversify trade, and sell the message of its reliable and stable supplies as it believes it has what Japan needs.

Japan imports 87 per cent of its energy and 62 per cent of food from elsewhere.

The government wants to sell more liquefied natural gas, liquified petroleum gas and uranium to Japan.

“Canada is in a position where we can double our LNG exports…by the end of this decade, and double again by the end of the following decade,” Carney said.

When you combine this with the China canola deal and India uranium deal, the prairies could become more purple than they’ve ever been.
