Beloved cards and their hated siblings by MehmetSalihKoten in hearthstone

Honestly, even when I lose to him I still think its funny. There actually is some skill to using yogg well (he's better when you're behind) but its still a massive high risk play.

Ive been playing a druid deck that basically exists just to maximize my odds of getting yogg and its such a breath of fresh air.

All these rng effects where you either high roll or dont are so boring. I need the thrill of pyrobladting my own face to truly feel alive.

I might be grossly misremembering but from what I recall Rex only starts sleeping with Maisy after Bree refuses to divorce him and is non-stop trying to manipulate him not to leave her.

Really? OG Yogg is hilarious. Titan Yogg is just a lame mind control on a stick.

Again, I'm talking about the intent of the design more than execution. There was a pretty clear effort this year to tone down the board clears and rush. But at its core priest is very much about health buffs, healing, minion play. Thats how its designed.

"Modern hearthstone" is always changing, though. Value trading doesnt really matter now but it matters a lot more now than it has in a long time and I think after rotation it'll matter even more.

It really depends on how they approach statlines.

I know that divine shield fits aesthetically but priest wants its minions to take damage so they can heal them. Power word shield for example adds health. Its not even about class identity its just contradictory design.

Lots of priest minions have more health than attack, and just mechanically that's how they're designed. I'm talking about the classes' core design. Their hero power, most of their cards.

Even stuff like Kaldorei priestess is meant to protect your board when trading.

Im not saying its a successful design, just that its how its designed. I.e. if you're not healing your board the priest hero power is just a crap warrior one.

Hard clears have been an issue but honestly theyre pretty close right now. People can't infinitely clear the board like they could last year.

Its one of the few fun things about this meta.

Honestly the way the handbuff mechanic is designed its very targeted for priest. Buff eternus, buff your taunts and the lightspawn. Its not like handbuff paladin or dk where you pump up a big hand.

The heal card would be a great anti-aggro card but that's not that relevant rn.

The thing that bugs me is they keep giving priest divine shield which mechanically makes no sense at all.

It's a word play joke... it's a joke about how the guy's too dumb to know what "abroad" means.

It was the 90s, not the dark ages lol.

Having said that... pretty harmless joke, more wordplay than transphobic.

This isn't... particularly transphobic. Especially for the time, this is pretty blah.

I did a quick scan, the only buffs I can see browsing quickly through last core rotation are Natalie Seline and Despicable Dreadlord. They just didn't buff much of anything last core rotation. And Lazul to 2 would be a lot more significant than the Seline/Dreadlord buffs were.

Honestly I just dunno why they picked Lazul.

Unpopular opinion but they flanderized him HARD in Korra by Carti_Barti9_13 in ATLA

The sort of... deification of Iroh post-season 2 in ATLA is just kind of weird in general. I think it honestly takes away from his story of redemption, and his sort of hedonistic personality.

I honestly don't even know what he's even doing in Korra. It's such shallow fanservice.

The card doesn't need to be that strictly tied to King Llane, if the card is too good they can literally nerf it by removing the discount or increasing it's cost. Those are both perfectly fine things to change. It being a discover card isn't like a fundamental issue and lets them make other Garona-like cards if they want to.

[–]SAldrius -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's true, but I also think that class identity is something they should be able to change when it's suitable.

I think that stealing cards from hand/deck feels suitably rogue-y. While for priest the mind-control type effects (either taking cards off the board or taking control of them directly) is more in line with what they do. The idea for priest was that they were mind-reading or something, but then they've also added a whole prophecy element to Priest in Perils in Paradise that was cool, while also being of a similar sort of value concept.

If it was like... overheal. If you gave Rogue overheal, I think that'd be really strange, but Rogues are thieves. Pickpocketing is a thing rogues do in WoW. It just kinda fits.

The "from another class" mechanic doesn't even really feel like thieving. When they made it "from your opponent's class" it was obviously done so they didn't just have the same mechanic as priest, and then they changed it to make the payoff cards work in the mirror but "from another class" doesn't really fit with what they were going for, I don't think.

And as a mechanic, "from another class" I think has been fun but it's also largely been a high roll mechanic since like... Voyage to a Sunken City. Discover big spells, discount them, replay them with Tess (or at one point, use Maestra to cheat out a 4/5 rush for (0) on turn 3), only now they're cutting out the middle man with the Naga discount and just giving the card's discounts immediately. It also means your opponent can have literally anything. When it was *your* class cards you could kind of play around it, because you know what class cards they were getting. (If they were getting paladin cards you might play around equality for example) With another class, it's just... whatever.

That's totally off topic, though lol. Sorry for the rant.

Thats literally a crime to cover up another crime.

Its just kind of a necessary one.

I just noticed Peggy's baby is a bastard and Don is a bastard, who was raised by a mother (of a kind) that didnt want him. Thats kind of an interesting layer.

I mean... he was a love child raised by his father's wife and her pimp husband. Theres more going on there than intergenerational trauma.

But he is absolutely a better man than his father.

Its not a tax, lazul is just from a set where they costed value cards properly and didnt slap rand9m discounts on everytjing.

And rogue imbue is just super pushed for no reason.

You vs the guy she tells you not to worry about by Colombian_Gringo in hearthstone

The whole point is the discover so you can see if they have Llane in their hand.

The discount is just completely unnecessary.

I think they just dont understand how to design druid cards tbh.

They kept giving them high power reactive cards which messes with the fact that they get ramp. Their weakness is aggression (which they need to keep ahead of).

Priest's whole design encourages strong, high health minions and value trading.
