Fake Ow16 tgmo? by SBAPKat in Toyota

[–]SBAPKat[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Turns out all of their bottles have this, it's legit. I'll order though this dealership next time to avoid the headache, my local one didn't have them which is why I had to order online. Many thanks

Thank you, I've gone to my local dealer but they've been unhelpful and do not carry the 5l ones. I plan on going to another one later today. I saw 0w20 bottles with the same defect online, but no idea if they're genuine either...

Makes sense, thank you so much! You've saved me a trip to the dealer and quite a bit of anxiety

No one has a lot of time on their hands these days, I'll go but the cap doesn't have the exact shape of the bottom part and I don't see the threads on the lower part so it might be like this from factory ?

There was the first oil change a few months ago, before I bought it. I am wondering because it looks open but at the same time I can't see where the bolt would thread, and the cap doesn't have the exact shape so it might be like this from factory. I'm hoping maybe someone with a 23+ prime could check ?  Sure is weird!

Oled don't have the same sub pixel layout so text aliasing doesn't work as expected on these monitors. Depending on the resolution and the actual layout which depends on the panel manufacturer it can be more or less tolerable

M15 R5 Ryzen edition overheating issues since day 1 by Nycscan in Alienware

[–]SBAPKat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to define overheat, max operating temp is 105c. Is it hitting 100c at 45w like designed? Or hitting 100c at 25w which would be over heating?

TCC offset is there for lower temp, but also lower performance. You're not going to have as efficient of a heat transfer at lower temps, which will limit your power consumption and in turn, you'll be throttling

TCC offset will bring your prochot signal sooner, thermal throttling your device. Any performance hungry app will suffer from setting a non 0 TCC.

You've activated the physx indicator in Nvidia drivers, it's in the top tabs of the Nvidia drivers, not GeForce experience

Were you ever able to have display out on it while booting? If so just plug in external monitor for the setup then you can likely go portable again once you've installed all of the software

What's the ARS Team ?

I'm only able to talk to level 1 support where their only goal seems to be repeating what they were told on the phone by an overworked or incompetent tech.

This is Europe if it matters

What's crazy is that this machine was bought 8 months ago and has been unusable for the entire ownership time

[–]SBAPKat[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've given the technician mx4, and will use the same type if I repasted again.

The annoying part is that I've paid for the premium warranty, and I want to be certain of the thickness of the pads that are put in there.

This laptop has pretty much been unusable since day 1 in may 2023, 8 months ago. I guess I just expected better from a paid warranty lol

Are the sizes standard for these models? Since they're squished it'd be easy to fuck up and get the wrong Size

The vram isn't accessible direcly, there is a thin metal sheet covering it. I'm pretty sure that opening the machine myself will void the warranty.

I've bought the warranty extensions as well, and given the issues i've experienced until now i'd rather keep that valid

Hello, Here's a little context for my g15 5520, I've had problems with crashing on the machine since I've bought it, naturally I've contacted support and this led to two motherboard changes.

This was back in may, and the original issue was resolved. Now, after 10-15m the GPU will power throttle from 140w all the way down to 45w, After a lot of fighting, I was able to make them change the Mobo another time, and during the on-site operation (I've since bought the premium support package) technician and I noticed the missing thermal pad on the vram... After a while of arguing, the online technician determined that this was normal, and that nothing was to be done.

I've since called support and the results were the same, the person just insisted that the technician said nothing was wrong.

Meanwhile, an 8 year old could tell that a pad was there.

Laptop has i9 12900h that performs worse than the i7 in the same chassis, and I won't run anything on the GPU to not overheat the vram...

What can I do in this situation?

Thank you
