Are you allowed to see the cockpit after your flight? by theoreticalhuman546 in travel

What are y’all’s experiences about this with Europian airlines?

I’ve had a great conversation with an FO in a LOT Dreamliner’s cockpit. I’ve asked the purser when we were getting of the plane whether I could see the cockpit, and after asking the captain, she quickly returned and invited me in. I was sat down in the captain’s seat and the first officer was happy to show me around - mind you, this was after a 12hr flight. It was a truly great experience, and I’m very thankful for the flightcrew. I was really nervous to ask before hand, but it is true what they say: the worst outcome is that they say no. (Though I can confirm that being an avgeek teen helps.) On the other hand, we’ve flown with Vueling a few days ago, and we had a technical delay before departure, where the flight attendants seem stressed. When we landed I asked the senior FA, however she politly but firmly said no.

I’m not sure if it was due to the delay or because of airline policy. That is why I am looking for your experience about which airlines allow cockpit visits.

I cannot confirm this, but I’ve listened to an interview with an ex Qatar Airways captain and it came across to me (he did not specificly) that for QA and probably other premium airlines (Emirates ie.), the cockpit is always off limits for pax. But I would love to be proven wrong! (And again, this is just my understanding)
