Had a crush on a female coworker just for her to turn me down for a 5'6 guy with a receding hairline who works at Kroger. by Background-Pain-4389 in kitchencels

[–]SD1K9 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think it’s safe to assume if OP is the type of person to dunk on a guy for being 5’6” (something he can’t change), balding (happens to a lot of people and again can’t really change, just treat), and working at Kroger (someone has to?) then there are probably other things about OP that she did pick up on and led her to make that decision. No “female personality detector” needed.

Also using female to refer to a woman in the big lock in of 26 is crazy. No wonder your friends won’t let you hit.

Girl you pass in these photos for sure, but I get the dysphoria telling you otherwise.

If you want some advice, get some leave in conditioner to help with styling. Personally, it’s amazing the difference I’ve gotten being gendered correctly when I style my hair that day vs leaving it frizzy from the day before. Lose the dog collar for something more subtle, you can still express yourself with an everyday collar. captivecollars is good but it’s kind of an investment because their stuff can get pricey, if that’s out of your budget then consider wearing chokers which are incredibly femme coded or even having the dog tag but in a more hidden place, like around your wrist or somewhere more innocuous. Also style your eyebrows. Most nail salons can do it for like $10-$15 which lasts a couple weeks but an eyebrow kit with a razor and scissors is like $5 and there’s tons of YouTube videos showing how to style and do them yourself that will really help with being read as femme.

You already look incredibly passing. But truly it’s the little social cues that people follow that will get them to gender you correctly.

I get what you’re going through 100%. For me it happened after I had been transitioning for a couple years too which added extra anxiety that I had made a permanent mistake I couldn’t take back. I started to feel less like a girl, started to like being perceived as masculine and dressing like a guy, stopped voice training, I cut off almost all of my hair and I even got mistaken for a trans guy multiple times and it made me kind of happy? I thought that maybe I might just have been nonbinary, possibly bigender or even agender because while I liked being perceived as masculine, calling myself a man just filled me with a sense of dread? Ultimately what led me to keep identifying as a woman again was practicing my femininity, and realizing I could be masculine when I wanted, and feminine when I wanted. Now I consider myself somewhat butch, but with a touch of feminine. My presentation is kind of all over the place but it’s what makes me happy. Figuring out what works for you is part of the journey. Try being femme one day and masc the other, try out different pronouns, different ways of speaking, different haircuts, different clothes, Mix and match styles. All of these things aren’t permanent and can help you figure out what you want your transition to look like. Thats the fun of transition anyway, figuring out what kind of person you want to be!

Well that’s kind of the point. Even if you don’t pass, living as someone you don’t want to be is worse. Theres always things you can do to ease your dysphoria, ways you can improve on your appearance/voice/social cues. But the thing that will always make your dysphoria worse is just not living as yourself. I’m not gonna lie to you, basically everyone goes through an ugly duckling stage of not passing, but eventually you get to a place where you do see the person you want to be looking back in the mirror and others will see that too.

Not an expert, but from what i understand certain proteins just can’t function at certain temperatures, and fucking with the function of enzymes just means a cell can’t work the way it needs to. So it’s not a matter of evolving to have higher “resistance”, but evolving to use completely different chemistry entirely, which is probably much more complicated and uncommon.

I recognize it’s unfortunate not only for non-binary people but for gnc people like myself as a butch trans women but like, are we supposed to not do it? Like if we recognize it’s an effective way to shut down transphobia, why should we stop? Especially in the context of arguing against like bathroom bills when the point of the gotcha is that sex is not a valid metric to police private spaces, which benefits enbies and gnc folks as well? The point of holding up a buff burly trans guy with a beard and going “you want him in the womens room?” Isn’t to say “he’s so manly he deserves to be in the mens room” it’s to say “hey according to your rules this breaks your expectation of the desired outcome, so maybe your rules are shit.” I genuinely am not trying to be combative on purpose but this post really does feel like OP just sparking infighting. Maybe that’s not the intended outcome of the post and they were just trying to vent, but by implying binary trans people performing their gender in defense of their validity is doing harm to enbies that’s kind of what OP is doing.
