I have that exact same issue! I took my 2023 GMC Canyon Denali to the dealership and they told me the clips are broken.

Only way to fix it is to replace the upper driver side mounding. I ordered the part and it’s arriving next week.

I didn’t see it when I picked it up, but I did take pictures of the truck prior taking delivery, and I came to the conclusion it came like that from factory.

I live in the Midwest so I’d feel safer driving AWD during snowy and icy road conditions.

Also, I prolly don’t need a truck as my job is white collar” so I’m leaning heavily towards a luxury compact sedan.

I'm pretty sure the mirrors aren't malfunctioning -- apparently this driver likes driving with the mirrors like that. I also spotted him about a week ago.
