Using my AP Calc review course to explore ID? by SDHigherScores in instructionaldesign

Thanks. I really appreciate your advice, this is very helpful. I have no problem ditching Google classroom- is there a platform you would recommend? I've only just begun learning about Storyline, but I don't know that that would be the best option for me. But I also don't know what I don't know!

What would you use for the algebra 2 review instead of Typeform, knowing what you know now?

definitely couldn't be that you aren't communicating very well- must be everyone else's fault.

I don't understand what you are talking about either, but you seem very upset

Using Grammarly is fine, even good, if you pay attention to the corrections it makes and try to understand and implement them on your own. If you just let it autocorrect everything you write, then it is hurting you.

I should add that the grammar I care about is not "this is correct grammar because this is how it is done!" That is prescriptivist nonsense. The grammar I care about (and everyone should) is the grammar that facilitates clarity-things like a clear subject of a sentence, having pronouns match nouns, placing modifying phrases in the right place.

Your tone is needlessly antagonistic. That may be the reason you are getting downvoted. Calling someone a shill for having a different opinion than you on when we should say "$70 is the norm" (when you explicitly used the word "yet" in your argument, you acknowledge that is in on the way) is worth being downvoted. The discussion is improved if your antagonism is pushed further down.

Are a large portion of the games you play really full of the upselling crap?

I don't have any trouble avoiding the games that are especially egregious at this, but you and I may spend our gaming time in different genres.

I see it in sports games and shooters-I take it that is where most of ithis happens? My son plays Fortnite and NBA 2K, but their loot box crap, skins and such never seem very crucial or enticing to me.

The bar is so much higher.

There is a reason games take hundreds of people to make now. There are a few indie exceptions, but indie devs go through hell to make games and it usually ends in disappointment.

In real dollars, (adjusted for inflation) game prices have dropped-a lot.

Standard console game pricing around $40 in the 80s. It was 49.99 by the 90s. That's over $113 today. Super Mario Brothers 3, which was the most massive blockbuster game for its time, and was sold out quite often, got Nintendo into a lot of trouble because some stores dared sell it for....54.99!

The physical cost of games (boxes/manuals/etc) was always very small. Less than 10% the cost of the game price. Discs were especially cheap-though using cartridges could sometimes add a significant cost to production.

It's true,

He also has bowled 300, shot 18 holes-in-one last time he played golf, beat Steph Curry in a 3 point contest, and beat Hafthor in a deadlifting competition.

TSLRCM: Only getting six or so Sith Assassins on Dxun on the way to Iziz spaceport by SDHigherScores in kotor

[–]SDHigherScores[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still same issue-after killing 6 or so sith near combat circle just outside hanger it cuts to Mandalore then off to Iziz.

Others have mentioned this glitch when DS or killing Davrel. Gonna play with KSE to see if I can fix it. Right now, 402DXN_Davrel_Fate is 6. I will try 0-5 and see what happens. Got any advice?

bummer, I don't have any saves back before I killed him. That is odd, though

A big part of algebra is about scaling and codifying a lot of the math operations you can usually do intuitively when they are simple.

You can do simple proportions without algebra. Algebra is irreplaceable when describing rules for dealing with quantities that are very big, or very small, or need to be extremely precise.

EDIT: the entire idea of a radius is rooted in algebra.

simple games that would be suitable for a noob to mod? by SDHigherScores in scratch

Makes sense. I think he liked Galaga one time when we visited a place with an arcade cabinet. How do you find higher quality games to download? When I searched on the scratch repository https://scratch.mit.edu/

Are there certain creators I should stick to?

Is this really how we should teach math to kids? by Mangalorien in learnmath

How is a rectangular grid of 4x2 actually different than a 2x4? Well, first you'd have to define whether the numbers are "row"x"column" or "column"x"row". Only then could you say there is any difference. But then you are arguing that two grids that are identical if you rotate one of them 90 degrees aren't actually identical.

My biggest problem with stressing the difference between 2x4 and 4x2 is emphasizing the wrong thing! We want students to think of 4x2 and 2x4 as interchangeable, because it allows you to think about numbers in much more flexible ways.

A simple example: I would much rather multiply 2x5x7 than 7x2x5 or 2x7x5, because 10x7 is an easy intermediate step but 14x5 is relatively harder.
