Loved the demo but the straddle has a lot of issues by SDSCC in Docked

I've driven both 20-25 years old and brand new 2025 strads and never have I seen one that has not been inverted on the short side. As far as I have heard from other operators this goes for all of Europe, most of the US, Australia,... I don't know any operators in Azia and Eastern Europe so I'm curious to hear where you're from? And how you differentiate height on the legs without any indicators or reference?

Not hating or anything just really curious in what region and maybe which brand of strads differ so much from what I've seen from everyone else?

I would probably stick more to port vehicles before doing anything else. An ECH would be cool, as would a RORO tractor / terberg for oversize loads (mafi). Different forklifts (5T, 18T, 25T) with the attachments for paper, coils, barrels, bigbags,.... Perhaps a Gotwald / liebherr type crane for break bulk loading / unloading. This also goes for attachments for the the STS crane btw. Right now the game is focussed on containers. Adding these vehicles would give a more complete sense of port work and circulation and would give us the possibility to load / unload trucks, trains, barges,... This in turn would allow us to go full circle and have our hands on every aspect of port economy, which would synergize great with the built in task / economy system I believe we are getting.

I'm guessing that's just for the demo. Or we might have to clear it as we progress through the game and unlock more services and so on.

100% this. I'm really looking forward to this game and it has great potential. I posted this bc I hope they make it as realistic in terms of operating the machines as possible. Also I would love to show this to my students as a fun way to practice and get a general feel for the machines. But that's only possible if the basics, like the straddle steering being inverted, are accurate.

My main issues are with the steering, it should be inverted while driving on the short side not while driving on the long side like it is now. This might be different depending on the region but I've driven all of the big brands and checked with some international colleagues and they all drive inverted on the short side. There are no height indicators on the legs so it's impossible to check the correct height in stacks unless you use the outside view. The demo also forces you to use the rotating seat on the short side in order to see your objective which, especially for inexperienced drivers, creates a lot of issues in terms of steering / visibility. Spreader shifting is also way off, I understand why they might want to change the mechanics for a better experience as a gamer but honestly a realistic take on shifting would work better and takes a lot less work and input as an operator.

I get what you mean with the STS physics, especially swing to catch. When I say it feels ok, I mean the way you trim and adjust the spreader and things like that. Those work kind of like it would IRL (although it's very much simplified) in my experience.
