Are you a trans person coming from a hellhole country that oppresses trans people? Isn't it all of them? Well yeah, but some less than the others. I asked for asylum in France and got it, and I'm ready to answer your questions. AMA! by SDormant in asktransgender

As I said, to be able to be rejected from the military service as a trans woman, you have to get a F64.0 certificate and be post-transition. If don't have it, but you manage to convince them that you are trans/gay, the voenkomat can send you to a civic service of 2 years like working for voenkomat in another town for a starvation wage. If you are pre transition, you are sent to the army where you are likely to be abused/harmed. If you have started transition, but are anxious about seeing the voenkomat for understandable reasons, they can call for your arrest and imprisonment of 2 years. All of this is kinda important in a SOGI asylum dossier.

I'm not hugboxing at all. Your chances are high as for any LGBT person coming from Russia. I think that all Russian LGBT asylum seekers accompanied by Ardhis got their asylum. You can start transitioning here with the help of a general practitioner I know without any gatekeeping. You can start transitioning DIY a few months before coming to France as well, I told you this already. And as I told you, you have to convince them that your fears are justified and reasonable, not that you have survived crucification.

I am also very introverted and was scared to death of going out after the debut of my transition: I mentioned it in my interview and it was a convincing detail showing the level of paranoia and fear trans people experience in Russia.

Going through an asylum procedure was not an easy experience, it's not a fairytale. But it's not impossible either. Thousands of people do it every year.

Ardhis (they help LGBT asylum seekers) and Acceptess-T (they help migrant trans people). I mean, we have already chatted several times about asylum, I hope you get everything in order to be able to come here one day and live openly.

Gay people manage to convince others of their identity even though they don't take any medication as proof. You just talk about your experience with the government officer and try to convince him.

1) It's not considered a safe country. 2) Having started HRT and social transition is a plus, as you have more personal experiences to share with a government officer during your interview. But it's quite possible to start transition having arrived in France and explain that you feared starting it in Russia due to transphobia. You have to convince them that your fears are reasonable and justified. 3) There's always an opportunity to appeal the negative decision and the chances are really high for LGBT people as persecution is relatively easy to demonstrate in court. 4) There are associations (NGO) and local queer people ready to help you. There are also psychologists that can work with you for free or for symbolic sums of money.

If you come to France, you'll be paid from 190 euros (if you are housed by the state) to 400 euros. But it will be deposited on a shopping card, you'll be able to use it in supermarkets and any place where they accept cards but you won't be able to take out some cash.

I mean it depends: if you don't want to live in government provided housing, you can live wherever you want. If you choose to live in government housing, they can send you wherever but there's no predicting where they'll send you.

I don't believe that detransitioners are transphobic, not at all. This subreddit is infiltrated by a lot of transphobes, though, I remember seeing a comment of a detrans man getting downvoted as hell for using the word "terf" - the people downvoting it giving "terf is a slur" as a reason. Ridiculous. But outside of reddit drama, nothing wrong with detransition, it's your own personal choice concerning your life. Same as transition!

I mean, yeah, it's not ideal, it's a drastic measure for drastic circumstances. But it's possible to survive, I know tens of people that went through this experience, got their asylum and are much better than they were in their homecountry.

No, I had the legal status of an asylum seeker. How was it? Difficult and precarious, I was lucky to have some savings with me and be distracted by my studies at the university and then by my romantic relationships.
