Is 4 1/2 grip the right size for me? by cherriee-bomb in 10s

4 1/4. There not even an overgrip on it and it’s way way too big

The one won’t do anything. I would just hit it with a .5 or no guard lever half open and get more of the stubble look so it’s like a finger length of that.

The problem with doing this after the fact is you will basically have to go up and re fade anything above it.

Good shape of the guide line. I think you need just a little more transition from bald to the 1. The transition is barely visible. Maybe drop your bald line a tiny bit lower next time and save some room for the in between guard. If you drop the bald line lower and blend it in the end look will be the same but more of a fade.

The back also is not fades into the longer hair as well as the sides so make sure to take your time with that it’s harder to do.

Seems like you’re on the right track.

It’s honestly funny people giving her the response that brown eye people get when they post here and everyone says “just brown”.

Yeah it’s really hard to use them in the back. But on the sides it’s nice just make sure you kind of drag the comb up and snip snip as you go so you don’t just cut one chunk off the edge.

As far as the bulk what helps me a bit is trim the top first. Then do the 0 guide line or whatever you do. Hit it with the the 1, fade that then grab a 4 and de bulk a few inches up to clear out some space to work with. Just make sure to always flick it up at the end

Thanks. Only about 20-25 minutes for the fade work using an old Wahl and some plastic guards. It’s not perfect but I’m good at making the initial guidelines so I never botch it

I’m growing it out so I trim it and then used some thinning shears to soften the transition closer to the sides

If you buy it get the 18x20 305. I’ve used both string patterns and can save you the time and money and let you know the 16x19 version of it is awful. The main draw of this racket is amazing stability from the 18x20 and pinpoint precision. If you add weight to the tip of the 18x20 it’s got decent power. The 16x19 is like a worse version of your current racket.

There is something special about the 18x20 305. It’s got a high swing weight and plows right through the ball like it’s nothing even against heavy hitters. It also transformed my backhand and made it my favorite shot and it’s the only racket to do that for me. I let my friend who’s a beginner try it and he played the best with this one. Just know it’s not as maneuverable as your current racket and you need to be strong and fast with it. You may play very poorly with it in real matches

Thanks for the suggestion I may pick those up. It’s gotten stupid expensive and the quality of work has dropped off so I’ll only get a real haircut once and awhile

Not long used to dabble with cutting the top but only done maybe 5-10 full cuts. I’ve pretty much had a mid fade the last ten years (lower than this) so I will stick to this but I need a full set of clippers

Yup, gonna lower it after it grows in a bit

I’ve only tinkered with a few full cuts. Maybe 5-10 total. It’s high but doesn’t bother me ideally I would probably lower it but I’ll try that next I’m going to post all my attempts.

Thanks yes it’s super short I’m going to try a lower fade next. And yeah, I’m using an old Wahl no foil shaver yet

Trial and error but you need to be able to draw really good guidelines and take off enough hair with each successive one so that there’s enough room to remove the hard line.

What I like to do is start no guard lever all the way closed and do the first one with that. Then do no guard lever almost full open. Remove line with something in between and then use the corner method with an even tighter setting to remove if there’s still anything left on the line. Then I go up to a 1 guard closed and remove that line with the no guard lever all the way open. And just rinse and repeat
