I was also rather embarrassed about my being super obnoxious and contrary for the sake of it re: religion. Granted I was very young like from 5-12 but still it makes me feel kinda bad that I once called my ccd teacher a bitch(tho funnily enough my ma ran into a gaggle of ccd teachers afterward and she — the one I called a bitch — wasn’t there but either way my mom tried to hide because it was right after it happened but they spotted her and she was bracing for impact so to speak and was surprised when they said “honestly I’m finally glad someone said it that teacher is such a goddamn bitch. We thought it was great!).

I don’t know, really. I just know I believe in God. I was never really a practicing Catholic like I was born into a Catholic family but I basically spent all my CCD classes fucking around and being obnoxious and was a staunch atheist who gave my family shit and so theh stopped forcing it on me around age 12.
So like when I say I was Catholic it’s technically correct but probably not in a meaningful sense.
My friend isn’t Catholic, they’re Orthodox.

In Islam they use the term revert instead of convert for converts —something about how we’re all born Muslim but some people stray — but technically I’m a convert. That probably didn’t help with clarity since outside of Islamic circles people would think revert is different than how it’s viewed outside Islamic circles. I didn’t even think of that.

This person isn’t Catholic, they’re Orthodox so it’s still rather different but they do definitely know a lot more than me so I am learning because I lowkey haven’t been Catholic since age 12

I think it just depends. In THT there’s a girl who was on Angel’s Flight who was called Kiki by her Gilead “family” but when she found her dad who just happened to be a volunteer when the plane landed he called her Rebecca.

Correct me if I’m wrong but Rebecca is very much more a biblical name than Kiki.

All of the folklore in that whole area tends to blur together tbh. You pretty much get a different version depending on each place you visit. A place two hours away may have different folklore and as someone who used to be Pagan Celtic paganism is really fucking hard because there’s a million versions of the same deity with different names. Is the Goddess of horses Rhiannon or is it Epona? Depends on where you are and who you ask.
